Noticing a historic level of grift on this platform when it comes to our dear and beautiful Canadian oil and gas sector. It now makes sense why so many of my retired, highly intelligent peers that built our industry share nothing here and simply enjoy life without arguing with anyone.

Two examples of this grift:

-A former sector fund manager posts that he bought and shares his positions on Friday. When oil starts correcting, he deletes the post and begins wisdom-signaling about how everyone is an idiot for holding oil stocks and how he’s a genius because of his great day trading market timing.

-Another outrageous example: an amateur AI student who provides subscription services attacks me and wants to compare performance over the past five years P.S: he didn't outperform... He mocks the engineers working in the sector, telling "me" to go drill wells, while wisdom-signaling subject-matter expertise in geopolitical timing and the ability to forecast prices...despite the significant uncertainty and volatility.

In both cases, the two individuals criticize one of the largest oil fund managers in Canada to wisdom-signal their smart approach and "signaling" everyone is an idiot if they don’t listen to them. In both cases, dudes promoting supreme skill in timing the markets....

This grift is ongoing. Perhaps the corrections we’ve seen will allow others to open their eyes and recognize this inappropriate behavior.

On another note, the last thing I do here is provide investment advice. I’m always careful to share mostly technical information about assets and let people draw their own conclusions. But I must admit, that I have no idea where these individuals get the nerve to behave this way, and second...that the concepts of staying humble and kind toward others seem completely absent.

None of the successful people I know behave like this...Sad.
