The key to improving productivity in the NHS is adequate and ambitious capital investment, consistently over planning cycles. The existing capital budget wasn’t enough to fix up hospitals that are literally falling down. A cut of £1bn to that budget is so short-sighted.
Great update from @DCHFT.
Last year, we agreed a 20-year lease with Dorset County Hospital (DCH) for the use of South Walks House.
DCH will use the building for a combination of clinical and office purposes, providing a central and easily accessible location for patients.
Work to refurbish two floors of South Walks House in Dorchester into permanent clinical space is progressing well. @TilburySouth is creating an Outpatient Assessment Centre that will include clinics, diagnostics, day case procedures and other services.

It was great to hear DCH mentioned in the Health Secretary's statement about the New Hospital Programme today. Our plans to build a new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit are progressing well with @TilburySouth about to start enabling works.

Before Twitter gets taken over with Christmas-spam, let it be known that if a child in Year 11 with a Sept-Nov birthday goes into care tonight, there’s now a 50/50 chance they’ll end up in unregulated accommodation. That’s because according to this gov, 16 & 17 year olds don’t
A fantastic opportunity to join the team here at DCH, working on the New Hospital Programme. If you have transformation, business planning or prog mgt skills and are looking for a new challenge, get in touch.
There's still time to apply to become the Programme Manager for the Your Future Hospital programme. We have big plans to develop our site over the next five years, including building a new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit. Read more: https://t.co/OL5ak99Owl

The public order bill going through parliament is “an affront to a civilised society”, says ex Cameron adviser Baroness Cavendish in FT. The powers it gives to police and Home Secretary to crackdown on protests and protestors are redolent of China or Iran, not a western democracy
A gentle reminder...stories like Ken's have been happening since early summer 2021...widely reported by myself and others. Tens of thousands have been seriously harmed in that time.
Sorry to repeat myself, but you *really* need to know this.
Under the government's Public Order Bill, anyone who has protested in the previous 5 years can be forced to "submit to ... being fitted with, or the installation of, any necessary apparatus" to monitor your movements.

NHS E finance director Julian Kelly:
We came into the pandemic with 10 years of funding significantly below the historic trend rate in health spending.
"it meant we went in to the pandemic with little or no resilience"

No, Truss doesn’t have a mandate for tax cuts for the wealthy funded by cuts to public services but the truth is the Tories don’t have a mandate for anything now. It’s time we had a general election.
