Given our spread out and built out nature, transit density won’t ever be nearly good enough to be useful. They’d have to burrow tunnels all over at enormous cost. Autonomous cars will take over first.

On topic, I do realize that good transit is paramount (reread my original comment). Good as in a viable competitive option to driving.

We should have planned for express trains, below/above grade crossings, etc but missed that boat.
