Govt Confirms There Will Be No Changes To LTCG Tax on Equities
I mean, honestly, was there any intelligent-fool who would have thought otherwise!?
LTCG ko badalna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai!
Broking = acquisition. Mutual funds/wealth/AMC = retention. Credit (MTF, loans against securities) and insurance = cross-sell. AI cuts the cost to serve.
But look closely: every single one of these three is growing its lending book fastest. Groww's MTF +264%. Angel One's funding book +31% in a quarter. Anand Rathi's +55%.
China export restrictions on Tungsten are creating a serious bottleneck in the global semiconductor supply chain specifically for Tungsten Hexafluoride (WF6)
A critical chemical used to make advanced memory chips that power AI & US asking China to resume rare-earth exports to Japan
Tungsten (W) ore → processed into high-purity Tungsten Powder → combined with Fluorine → WF6 (Tungsten Hexafluoride)
WF6 is used in chip factories (fabs) during the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process. It deposits Tungsten metal inside tiny, deep holes and trenches in chips. This is especially critical for:
> 3D NAND (storage chips) - More layers (128L → 200L → 300L+) = dramatically more WF6 needed
> HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) - The ultra-fast memory stacked on AI GPUs (NVIDIA, AMD, etc.) These have very complex vertical structures.
> Advanced logic chips (3nm and below) - Needs the highest purity (7N grade)
75% of WF6 demand comes from semiconductors. AI boom = exploding demand for HBM and high-layer NAND.
What China Actually Did? (The Trigger)
China has sharply restricted exports of Tungsten powder and related products (APT, unwrought Tungsten, etc.) to Japan
Japanese companies Kanto Denka and Central Glass (together 22-25% of global WF6 supply) relied heavily on Chinese Tungsten powder. They are now running out of stockpile by end of June 2026 and have to cut production significantly in the second half of 2026.
This is not a total global ban - it is heavily targeted at Japan. China is still exporting some WF6 (the finished high-value product), but not the raw materials that allow others to make it
Well Guys this is Insane Supply chain Chokepoint :)
CSIC Special Gas - 2,000 tons (2026) → 3,000 tons (2027) - big jump, especially in 6N/7N ultra-high purity. Chinese share of global semi-grade WF6 jumping from 37% to over 53% by 2027 in some projections.
WF6 prices in China are rising sharply (especially 7N grade). Korean suppliers have hiked prices 70-90%.
China in 2026 is Importing much more Tungsten ore/concentrate and scraps (securing raw material), Cutting exports of lower-value products (Tungsten powder, APT, Trioxide).
HBM and high-layer NAND are already tight because of AI demand. Any further supply constraint on WF6 makes it worse. This means GPUs/TPUs can sit in warehouses because there isn’t enough high-performance memory to go with them.
Can Others Replace Chinese Supply? (Not Easily)
United States - Exported only 23 tons to Japan in April 2026. Much of it is lower-grade (not suitable for semiconductor use). America needs Tungsten for its own industry and defense needs.
Almonty Sangdong project in South Korea - Aims to produce 4,600 tons/year, but question marks remain on whether it can produce the ultra-high purity (5N/6N grade) required for electronic-grade chemicals.
Purity Grade Matters a Lot, Not all WF6 is the same:
> 5N grade (99.999%) - Good for mature/older chips
> 6N grade (99.9999%) - Needed for most advanced memory.
> 7N grade (99.99999%) - Required for cutting-edge logic (3nm+) and high-performance HBM.
Japanese companies were strong in 6N, Chinese player CSIC is one of the few that can reliably do high volumes of 7N - the grade that matters most for next-gen AI chips.
The big three memory makers (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) are prioritizing high-profit AI/HBM memory for hyperscalers (Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.).
As a result, consumer memory (DRAM for PCs, laptops, phones, etc.) is getting squeezed → prices are rising
Apple is already raising prices on some products because of this, Google and Apple are now actively looking at Chinese memory chips from CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) and YMTC (Yangtze Memory) as alternatives.
Chinese memory makers have a big advantage right now - they have secure access to WF6 through domestic suppliers like CSIC, while Korean/Japanese supply is under pressure
China earlier move on Tungsten is now creating tangible advantages for its domestic memory industry.
Even companies like Apple and Google (who have been cautious about Chinese chips) are being forced to consider them due to supply tightness
Chip war is nothing when yu look at Supply Chain war, this means 2 things for sure slow US defence & AI
India not have much skin in the game so affect will not be much :)
RBI policy: A "Big Bang" move.
A coordinated RBI-Government effort to attract foreign capital through:
- More long-term G-Secs under FAR
- Incentives for PSU ECB borrowings
- Fresh FCNR(B) deposits
- Withholding tax on debt capital gains cut to 0% from 20%

Globalization & growth once fueled pro-incumbency, reversing the old anti-incumbency trend. But with de-globalization and tariff wars rising, expect a shift back. Anti-incumbency will return — power will change hands more often across democracies. A new political cycle begins.
Tariff wars don’t just reshape trade—they reshape politics. Slowing economic activity leads to distress on the ground, and when livelihoods are hit, public mood shifts. For incumbents, that makes re-election a steep climb

Watching Szczęsny today just confirms it—Messi was right about Ter Stegen. Barcelona wasted his prime years with a keeper who crumbled in big moments. Imagine Messi with a prime Neuer or Courtois behind him… different legacy. 🚨🔥

Cross-country youth unemployment data are alarming for India (see chart below). There are two ways to react to this. South Korean response: Admit mistake & make policy correction. North Korean response: Reject the data. Let's hope India puts politics aside & opts for the former.
