🚨Who Are the Men Emerging From New York's Sewers at 2 A.M.?

Videos showing random groups of men climbing out of New York City manholes in the middle of the night have gone viral, and of course the internet has filled in the blanks.

The NYPD says there's no threat to the public and believes the individuals may have been searching the sewer system for 'valuables.' After the videos surfaced, Emergency Service Unit officers reportedly entered the tunnels and found nothing suspicious. The city's Department of Environmental Protection also found no damage.

Maybe that's the whole story, but you got to admit it's still a strange sight.

Multiple men wearing coveralls, headlamps and carrying shovels emerge from underground around 2 a.m., quickly change clothes and disappear into Brooklyn streets. If someone had filmed that scene for a movie, nobody would question it.

For now, police are saying that there's no evidence of anything nefarious. I want to know what exactly were they looking for down there?
