The 'trouble' facing many working-class young people is a lack of investment and equity, and adults cooking up schemes without speaking to those closest to the issue.

Mate, if you want more people to experience a variety of non-paid activities, then build a society with space for that. Rebuild youth clubs, reduce school pressure, and invest in adult education, so young people can afford time for a life beyond school.
