The Green party has hit 200,000 members, marking a 186% increase since Zack Polanski was elected leader in September 2025.

When Polanski won the leadership race with an 85% landslide, the party had only 69,000 members.

With support at an all-time high, the Greens now poll at 17% with YouGov, up from 8% in January 2025. This puts the Greens only one percentage point below Labour and the Conservatives.

Support for the mainstream parties has fallen dramatically in recent years. In August 2025, the Times reported that Labour had lost almost 200,000 members between 2020 and 2025, with an estimated new membership of 333,000. Meanwhile, the Tories were last estimated to have 123,000 members.

The highest polling group in the UK currently is Reform, with 24% of the population saying they’d vote for Nigel Farage’s party. Its website claims a membership of 270,000.

The Greens are the most popular party for people under 50, with just under half (46%) of 18-24 year olds saying they’d vote Green, according to YouGov.
