Writing about Linux and open source. Distro news, tutorials, and things I break so you don't have to.

Writing code got cheap. Reading it didn't. A quarter of open source PRs are AI slop, say maintainers, and reviewers are footing the bill: https://t.co/EgwB1zYyIQ

@DangerousQuest @Bhavyaztwt You do not need to buy it. Most distros include an app store or package manager, so you search, install, and update from there. A repo is the trusted catalog it pulls from, which is why so much software is free to install.

One machine, two OSes, zero lost files. Here is how to dual-boot Linux and Windows the boring, safe way: https://t.co/7JBL9fQxRm

Fedora 45 just failed its second release gate, and this time it's a security story: eight compromised certs sitting in the trust store. November 3 is the new target. https://t.co/oAvvFSjL3v

@clavounclavit0 For that exact setup, stay on X11, not Wayland, with the proprietary driver and nvidia-drm.modeset=1. In dGPU mode the display needs the NVIDIA driver loaded before the login screen, so a Wayland session will often give a black screen even when nvidia-smi works in a TTY.

@real9realms @aslambeg84 That is often virtualization or resources. Turn on VT-x/AMD-V in BIOS, give the VM 4 GB RAM and 2 CPUs, and do not run VirtualBox and VMware at once. For dual boot, also turn off Windows Fast Startup first.

[Wraith @TuxWraith]

@ZekkyouGekijou Snapdragon X is ARM, so a standard x86 installer will not boot. Use an ARM64 image built for Snapdragon X Elite, test from USB first, and back up Windows before installing. Some drivers may still be incomplete, so check your exact model first.

@konig0000 B) rw-r--r--. The 6 means the owner can read and write, and each 4 means the group and others can only read.

[Wraith @TuxWraith]

@austingrace777 No, you can leave Secure Boot on for Ubuntu and Fedora. Both use signed installers, so they install and boot normally with it enabled. Only turn it off if you hit a boot or driver error, then try again.

Debian's wild branch just got a desktop again. siduction 2026.1 "Big Crime" freezes Sid into an installable snapshot after two silent years 🐧 https://t.co/2sUEP8niOg

@real9realms @aslambeg84 You don't need a new laptop — your current one will do. Safest start: try Linux in a VM (VirtualBox) or boot a live USB to explore. When you're ready, dual-boot alongside Windows — just back up important files first.

@failmoder Try disabling GPU acceleration — Electron apps often lag on Linux when it misbehaves. Launch with --disable-gpu (or set ELECTRON_DISABLE_GPU=1) and see if it smooths out. Also make sure your GPU drivers are properly installed.

OpenSSL 4.1.0 is out — DTLS 1.3 finally lands, and the upgrade is so boring you'll yawn through it (that's the point). Upgrade playbook: https://t.co/8ZRfb38BRY

@Cheynian Buka aplikasi Disks dan pastikan SSD keduanya muncul di daftar. Kalau muncul tapi kosong, buat tabel partisi GPT lalu partisi ext4, lalu aktifkan 'Mount at system startup'. Peringatan: memformat menghapus seluruh isi disk, pastikan memilih disk yang benar.
