Reparations are not a zero sum. They’re seed capital for the nation we are becoming: a multiracial society that has paid its collective debts and lets all who have contributed to its great prosperity finally begin to benefit from it. #TheSumofUsBook#Tulsa
“Imagine if the 215 children were white”
Sure, but if you need to invent imaginary white children in order to feel empathy and grief for real-life murdered Indigenous children... I don’t know what to say

We don’t need to “reimagine policing.”
We need to examine the meaning of “public safety.”
Billions upon billions are spent on policing & we are not safe.
Housing is safety. Healthcare is safety. Funding things that actually prevent social instability & conflict is safety.
How many ppl are able to murder someone on video or in front of witnesses and not be arrested immediately? Why is the standard different for police? There’s actually no logical argument for why police are allowed to use a level of force civilians can’t.

@sarah_edo We’re doing a lot of interesting work on my team at Salesforce right now building and transforming systems across environments based on expressions of intent. I’m not a recruiter myself but would be thrilled to bring someone in who is brilliant, funny and, especially, kind
A white man walked into a grocery store in Boulder, killed 10 people, and was apprehended by the police and walked out of the building completely unharmed.
Right down the street, police killed Elijah McClain while he apologized for not doing anything wrong.
I'm mentally ill, consistently angry, and experience financial anxiety regularly, yet here I am having never considered murdering several people.
Why do we let folks run with this narrative?
We are way too comfortable with brushing off intentional malintent as mental illness.
