Some people want you to think this is a morally complex situation.

I firmly disagree. It's actually very simple.

To offer some legitimate criticism. It is entirely reasonable to question how Cyberleek actions are presented as a protest against the destruction of physical media.

For the unaware. Cyberleek as asked financial compensation to share the leaks via crypto payement.

However just like anything in our capitalist society. Time is money. So asking for compensation for all the time, effort and skills for his actions could be presented as reasonable to an extent.

What is unquestionable is that : Rockstar deserve this.

Just 2 days ago, Rockstar pressured discord into giving them an entire city worth of personal and private data.

People who have nothing to do with any of this.

The company who's biggest financial project is leaking is currently in the possession of this data.

Not only is this an egregious overreach and abuse of power, the idea that this information is safe with them is preposterous.

Since when do companies have the right to wield power equal to the police, a judge, the state for the sake of a "private investigation".

I fear we are walking toward a dystopian cyberpunk like future. We are only a couple step away from corporate assassination, if this is not considered unacceptable behavior and condemned by everyone.

I want him to win. Because I want Rockstar and the video game industry to lose.

Since the end of the lockdown. All of the best video games have been from indie studios or asian studios. Outsiders of the AAA western environment.

Offering richer, better, fair priced games.

And the response of these big studio is to milk the players more. Treat the customers worse. Treat their employee as expendable and replaceable.

The thing about the GTA 6 leaker is he’s trying to put into publishers’ minds:

“If you go anti-consumer, if you do this too, this can and will also happen to you.”

It puts into the minds of the establishment that the more they push, the more likely there will be pushback. It holds them accountable through fear… and I’m not gonna lie, a part of me respects it

We’re so used to getting abused, used, and expected to accept the most disgusting policies and “shifting trends.” A part of me is kind of thinking… honestly? Maybe if more people pushed back we’d be in a much better spot. All of us. Not left or right or whatever the fuck. Us

If the question is “is it wrong?” I think the answer really depends. Is it wrong to stand up for yourself?
