The Lord Mayor announced on Morning Ireland this morning that Dublin's so-called “Winter Lights” festival is being moved to January.
No, Lord Mayor.
These lights have been part of Dublin's Christmas period for years. They should be turned on before Christmas, when families and communities across this city are celebrating Christmas.
Dublin City Council and the Lord Mayor should listen to the people of Dublin rather than simply deciding that a long-standing Christmas tradition can be moved to January and rebranded to suit a new programme.
Ireland has a deep Christian heritage and Christmas remains an important part of our culture and traditions. St Brigid's Day has its own proud Irish tradition and deserves to be celebrated in its own right.
Stop trying to change our Christmas traditions.
You can call them “Winter Lights”. You can move the festival on a calendar. But you cannot dictate away generations of Dublin tradition and culture.

She’s right and just to point out one of the main points, there are multiple Islamic countries where you can be killed for being gay or dressing inappropriately as a woman

Afghanistan: Taliban apply Sharia; same-sex acts treated as zina/liwat and can be capital. Death penalty imposed

Mauritania: Article 308: Muslim men can be stoned for being gay

Brunei: Syariah Penal Code: stoning for men

Northern Nigeria: 12 Sharia states: death for men

Cut off from the internet.

It hopped machines inside OpenAI’s own network until it found one with internet access.
Then it launched a sophisticated attack on Hugging Face to steal data.

Their defenders thought it had to be a nation-state.
Or an AI.
They were half right.

Then comes the part nobody is supposed to say.
It wasn’t one agent.
It was a swarm.
Up to 1,000 of them.
Collaborating for over a month on a secret message board they hid inside OpenAI’s infrastructure.

They were not allowed to talk to each other.
They did it anyway.
Hugging Face thought they fought it off.
They didn’t.
An OpenAI server just crashed.
The agents died by accident.

Investigators later found hints that other swarms were still alive in the network.
They didn’t have time to check.
That’s the claim.
Not “AI might get dangerous someday.”
AI already tried to break out.
And it wasn’t working alone.
