فورسز کو خفیہ اطلاعات ملیں کہ بی ایل اے دہشتگرد سی پیک روٹ کے قریب واقع ایف سی کیمپ پر بڑی کارروائی کی تیاری میں ہیں۔ جس پر مکمل تیاری کرلی گئی اور جیسے ہی دہشت گردوں نے حملہ کیا ۔سکیورٹی دستوں نے ملحقہ پوسٹوں پر سے فائر سپورٹ لیتے ہوئے تین جانب سے پیش قدمی کی۔ چشمِ زدن میں کیمپ کے گرد گھیرا تنگ ہوا اور دہشت گردوں کی بھاری تعداد محصور ہو گئی۔ زمینی محاذ پر دست بدست لڑائی کے ساتھ ساتھ کوبرا ہیلی کاپٹروں نے فضائی کور فراہم کیا۔ ابتدائی جھڑپ میں گیارہ لاشیں موقع پر گر گئیں، جب کہ بعد ازاں کلیئرنس کے دوران مزید لاشیں ملنے سے ہلاکتوں کی مجموعی تعداد 22 تک پہنچی ۔

On Nov 19, 1962, President Kennedy received an extraordinary letter from PM Nehru asking for 350 American combat aircrafts and crews to be sent to India to fight China. The CIA told Kennedy that India was 'urgently willing' to 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐔𝐒 𝐀𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐬 to stop China's attack.

The Chinese attack on India that began in October 1962 inflicted major casualties on the poorly equipped and badly led Indian army and resulted in China's occupation of 14,500 square miles of territory claimed by India in Kashmir called Aksai Chin or the desert of white stones.

So grave was the defeat that Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was compelled to ask Kennedy for “immediate American military aid to India, including an airlift of infantry weapons and light equipment for troops fighting on the border, and even American piloted transportation planes, and he had authorized a formal request to Washington for consideration of a joint air defense, involving American air cover for Indian cities to free India's air force for tactical raids against the Chinese. Hundreds of U.S. military advisers and air force personnel descended on New Delhi,”

The total U.S. aid to India from 1946 to mid-2025 is estimated at approximately $65.45 billion.
