Don't fall for the politicized and wrongheaded attacks on Md Dep't of Juvenile Services Secretary Schiraldi.
Instead of hyper-politicized attacks- focus on the research-- over-reliance on incarceration and punitive approaches undermines public safety. Schiraldi gets it.
@UBaltLawCFCC is one of the 118 signatories calling for youth justice approaches that improve community safety AND achieves better outcomes for our kids. We must commit to research-backed, equitable, community-centered approaches and reject outdated policies. #CareNotCages

We join our community partners in asking @iamwesmoore to do the right thing for our kids and veto HB814. We are tired of leading the nation in incarcerating Black children. They deserve better.
.@GovWesMoore, we call on you to VETO HB814!
In your inaugural address, you said "We do not have to choose between a safe state and a just state", but this bill won't make Maryland safer or more just – it’ll just hurt kids.
Be courageous and VETO HB814!
Today @DrAlexPiquero and I lay out why we must follow facts & best practice, not anecdote. This law will not improve public safety. It will worsen MD's shameful racial disparities and harm Black children. We can and must do better, and it's not too late.

Maryland leads the country in incarcerating young Black kids. HB814 will make that worse.
If the bill goes into effect, more elementary school kids will be incarcerated for minor offenses and put in jail before court.
@GovWesMoore our kids need you to VETO HB814!
@UBaltLawCFCC’s Executive Director, @Aubrey_EL and Faculty Director, @ShantaTrivedi are begging for a research-based, humane response when children make mistakes. Holding parents “accountable” will not solve the problem.
FF4F for Families would like to thank @ubaltlawcfcc. Led by CFCC Faculty Director Shanta Trivedi and Executive Director, Aubrey Edwards Luce for her testimony about her support for SB0708! This legislation will have a meaningful impact on children lives.
Thinking of these men who lost their lives in this crazy tragedy, trying to make better lives for their families. A reminder of the many sacrifices that immigrants make. ❤️ #BaltimoreStrong
