How does environmental stress influence plant-microbe interactions via root exudates and plant C allocation?!?! Join our team as a PhD student to investigate this further! Applications due Sep 15. Details here: https://t.co/XcfOwz7Z3w please RT! #plantecophysiology
@b_roskilly Hi Beth, this is Monica from the Johnson lab. I think it's cool you're explaining to students how we create knowledge through science. Here's a video from @testedcom (Adam Savage) that may be helpful, if just an intro to the steps you mention here: https://t.co/MyW6A93reT
“Simulation models not accounting for water sources available to deep‐rooting trees, are likely to overestimate aridity impacts on forest productivity and C stocks.”
Measuring gas exchange across a soil moisture gradient adjacent to a geographically isolated wetland. This is a class project in wiregrass dominated savanna @Treewater229#Ecohydrology#Longleafpine

Congratulations to Dr. @RaquelFeltrin who passed her PhD defense yesterday! Amazing work on How Fire Kills Trees! I can't wait to see the places she will go!
Ecophys field trip ended with a cliffhanger: why are sugar maples becoming less productive at lower latitudes? My car spent the drive talking about it. I gave hints but no answer. A student got out and said, "Fine! I am going to look into the literature!" That'll show me.
A grad student just wrote "This study was a good reminder that these organisms are not just bags of DNA and actually exist as plants." I vaguely remember from my field botany days that this might be true. Anybody else felt this way?
Please share! @Treewater229 and I are looking for a PhD student to study the hydrology and biogeochemistry of isolated wetlands. Work @AuburnU and @thejonesctr with an interdisciplinary team and agricultural stakeholders.
In honor of Prescribed Fire Awareness Week, here's burning around a red-cockaded woodpecker cavity tree. Prescribed burning is the only forest management method which perpetuates the longleaf pine-wiregrass ecosystem, Georgia’s most diverse flora and fauna ecosystem. #goodfire
Outreach notice: This is a great opportunity to get some field experience before deciding on graduate school, or for gaining summer work experience while still earning an undergrad degree.
New article out in Forest Ecology and Management on potential silviculture strategies to conserve and possibly restore #easternhemlock. https://t.co/1XnyXUcnBZ
