NEW:
Britain’s grim winter of strikes, falling incomes and a worsening NHS crisis is not some unfortunate series of events
It’s the inevitable result of a decade of Tory austerity that steadily weakened the state’s capacity to respond to shocks

Are you intending to submit evidence to the Leng Review?
I haven't seen how to do so shared widely by DHSC or NHSE.
It's via this email:

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR CONTRIBUTION ASAP.

If a hospital comms. team can make the mistake and not realise a PA in paediatric surgery isn’t a paediatric surgeon, well, that only reinforces the point me and many others have made about the ambiguity in the name.
Odds on this not happening if he was a physician’s assistant?
Hi @pa_StephenNash. As the leader of the PA union (UMAPs), will you be leading by example and joining the GMC register for PAs? If so, when will you be doing so?
Roughly an hour apart both @NavinaEvans & @NHSEnglandNMD posted comment today on a times article regarding PAs.
These were their first posts on X in 2025.
Smacks of a coordinated comms strategy.
Frankly NHSE are an embarrassment.
A victory for patient safety: our case against the GMC over their failure to properly regulate Associates is now heading straight to the High Court!
Mr Justice Chamberlain ruled it raises serious issues for patients and he granted us permission and expedition.

Fighting the GMC is draining our resources. We’re up against a powerful body with taxpayer funding.
And they refused to mediate.
If you believe in patient safety and accountability, please donate to cover our legal costs.

This is the Litmus strategy that @MSEHospitals have signed up to.
Deliberately slashing your pay then trying to "grip and control" you.
No thought given to staff or patients.
Know your worth.
Do not pick up locum shifts for insulting rates.
I will endeavour to meet the old BMA team who assured us - with endless condescension- strikes were bad, met annual pay erosion with “thank you Sir” & a silent decade on PA/AA.
They caused historic harm to medicine in the UK, truly they were incompetent. Never forget them.
Hourly Christmas day rates
£17.56 - Doctor (F1, newly qualified)
£37.76 - Physician Associate (Band 7, newly qualified)
Appreciate that you've inherited this system from the Conservatives @wesstreeting but how much longer will that be an excuse before you take action and end the scandal of PAs?
Service delivery on the NHS is being diluted, it's now your watch, please fix this, and end the scandal of PAs in public health
Hi @gmcuk
It’s been 4 days since you were going to take immediate steps in response to another doctor’s suicide
Please update us on those steps and what action has been taken
⏳ Day 3 of asking.

Doctors, you are worth more than the insultingly low rates that the London Cartel offers you.
The rates in this table are what you’ve told us you deserve as highly qualified professionals undertaking extra contractual work. This is the bare minimum.
It’s time to #scrapthecap.
This is illegal.
PAs are neither qualified nor allowed to request ionising radiation. This should be a police matter. As examples mount up, we evidence a systemic issue with PA professionalism.
Extra concerning that the trust's initial FOI response was "zero" - a lie. FAO Leng!
