Party identification and mobilization are diminishing. Local journalism holds local and regional governments accountable. Mobilization around establishing local public journalism can establish independent journalism thru taxpayer-funded special district governance.
With both local news and rural Democrats both in terminal decline, this kind of petty tyrant governance is probably the future across large swathes of the country.

I've seen some tweets in the last few days that suggest that the review process has been really slow -- often with people unwilling to do reviews. By and large, I haven't had that problem at my two new journals: @JHPE_journal & @JPIPE_journal. Reviewing has been quick generally.
