The U. S. Marshals Survivors Benefit Fund was founded in 2012 in response to the loss of 10 Deputy and Special Deputy U. S. Marshals in the line of duty in 2011
We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Adam Heitman of the Creek County (OK) Sheriff’s Office. On July 15, he suffered a medical emergency immediately following a foot pursuit for a wanted felon.
Deputy Heitman had served with the Creek County Sheriff’s Office for six years and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Drew was part of a task force serving an arrest warrant when he was shot and killed by the wanted subject. The Fund will be providing support and assistance to the Hanson family. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Trooper Michael Pahira of the Pennsylvania State Police. On July 1, he was struck and killed by a commercial vehicle while conducting a vehicle safety inspection in Cass Township.
Trooper Pahira served with the Pennsylvania State Police for more than 19 years.
Trooper Pahira is survived by his parents and a sister.

Deputy Bost served with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office for eight years.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Sandra Blair of the DeSoto (TX) Police Department. On May 26, she passed away from injuries sustained in 1999 when she was struck by an intoxicated driver while conducting an accident investigation.
Officer Blair served with the DeSoto Police Department for two years

On June 11, 2025, he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic. Nearly a year later on June 9, 2026, he passed away from the injuries sustained during the accident.
Officer Krish had served with the Carrollton Police Department for three years.
He is survived by his wife and brother.

Trooper Romero had served with the Texas DPS for nine months.

On June 14, 2015, Deputy U.S. Marshal Zacarias Toro passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. His illness was a direct result of his rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center following September 11, 2001. Deputy Toro was a responder to the attacks on the World Trade Center, courageously providing security for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and assisting with the search and rescue efforts. On June 6, 2015, Toro was presented with the United States Marshals Service Purple Heart Award for the injuries he sustained during the performance of his duties that ultimately led to his death. He left behind a wife and four children. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
