The civis origin story. How
@BrockCivis
caused far-left authoritarian administrators to lose their minds. You too can help hold admin to account. [email protected]
Can't wait for the 'White Book Fair' drop. Because nothing says 'inclusive campus' like racially branded events. Peace and love through segregation, apparently.

@UWaterloo series on Antagonism and Intimidation wraps up with a session on Free Speech, but no one from @HdxAcademy or @SocietyforAcad1 , the only two organizations in Canada advocating for free speech at universities, is invited.
Betrays a certain lack of seriousness, no?
The @UWaterloo speaker series on Antagonism and Intimidation wraps up in January having failed to engage a single person on the other side of the debate, having failed to lower the temperature by a nano-degree.
What was it all about?
Just a way to pad the resumes?
Could @UWaterloo host an event like this?
I don't think so.
Embarassing to be shown as more ideologically closed-minded than the high school down the street.
.@UWaterloo is hiring a tenured engineering professor.
''Eligible candidates are required to identify as a woman or gender equity-seeking group, which is defined to include individuals who self-identify as women, transgender, gender-fluid, non-binary, or Two-Spirit people''
Canadian parliament's Science and Research committee recently held hearings on DEI. Liberal MP @Taleeb pressed time and again for evidence on impacts of DEI. Nobody could present high quality evidence to support the idea that DEI improves student outcomes or scientific progress.
So many questions:
1. Which community?
2. Who represents 'the community'?
3. Isn't decolonization about revolution and not peace?
4. Was Jesus woke?

Charlie Kirk assassinated on campus—the real “antagonism & intimidation.”
@UWaterloo’s panel? Bullies with a victim complex: woke foxes whining about “intimidation” while ruling the henhouse.

FIRE: “Campus sanction attempts…typically come from the political left.”
So @UWaterloo ’s idea of a free speech panel? Four critical-theory profs—voices who are usually on the side doing the silencing.
Like inviting arsonists to lecture on fire safety.

"one-third of college students are open to the use of violence to stop speech"
This is perhaps Western civilization's greatest challenge right now.
Pray for Charlie Kirk.
We must repudiate the idea that "speech can be violence" once and for all. @glukianoff and I wrote about the dangers of promoting this idea on college campuses back in 2017, in @TheAtlantic:

@UWaterlooPres Since the new neutrality policy doesn't apply to him, when will Prez Goel communicate deep sorrow and need for coming together against political extremism in the wake of the assasination of Charlie Kirk?
The arrest of Graham Linehan should be a turning point.
It’s time to remove activism from the police force once and for all.

@jonkay@Nature At least they're willing to share their agenda with rest of the scientific community--you know, the people who actually discover new stuff.
