Israel may appear intent on maintaining military operations against #Iran regime-backed #Hezbollah. But make no mistake: Tehran is behind Hezbollah's escalation against #Israel, killing four IDF soldiers. Its Quds Force operatives are on the ground in Lebanon.

And the U.S. isn't neutral here: Hezbollah has the blood of Americans on its hands. This is written as if a "peace deal" with Iran is on the menu, when it's not as long as the Islamic Republic is in power, ideologically anti-American to its core.

"No vessel is permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without a valid passage permit issued by the PGSA."

(This contravenes UNCLOS Article 44:
Duties of States bordering straits
States bordering straits shall not hamper transit passage and shall give appropriate publicity to any danger to navigation or overflight within or over the strait of which they have knowledge. There shall be no suspension of transit passage.)

"Prohibition on Alternatives: Any deviation from or use of alternative routes is strictly prohibited and will be treated as a violation."

"Mandatory Insurance: PGSA-Approved Policy: All vessels must hold a valid insurance policy approved by the PGSA. The full terms and detailed is provided in Insurance Policy document."

"Current Coverage: At present, this insurance is provided free of charge to the vessel owner, with all expenses covered by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Future Changes: The PGSA reserves the right to introduce insurance fees in the future, which will be determined by the relevant insurer. Owners will then be required to purchase and renew coverage accordingly."

New statement from #Iran's regime's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei on the MoU. This language is classic hedging from Mojtaba Khamenei--much like his father did. It insulates him from blame if things go wrong as he expresses distrust. He sets the groundwork to put the onus on President Pezeshkian--who he namechecks specifically. No mention of Ghalibaf, notably who is a longtime ally of Mojtaba's.

Here Mojtaba Khamenei underscores the regime's core ideology will not change: he calls the U.S. an enemy, cites safeguards afforded to the Resistance Front (or the Islamic Republic's network of terror proxies and partners), and highlights that "it is self-evident that the in-person negotiations that will take place in the future will not mean acceptance of the enemy's position."

In sum, this appears to be more of the same from the Islamic Republic.

Around 16 of them are likely laden with 🇮🇷🛢️

They are still loitering here, despite indications that a few other unladen tankers and cargo ships have seemingly crossed the US Blockade line at the Gulf of Oman.

Will the pending MoU signing on Friday, will they continue to wait here, or begin to transit to the Strait of Hormuz?
