While I'm fully aware that correlation doesn't imply causation, there are strong reasons to think a causal link between screen time and birth rates might actually exist.
Phones (and especially scrolling) gave us an alternative to being bored.
Phones plus Uber Eats and DoorDash made it possible to stay comfortable at home instead of going out.
Phones with porn and social media gave us an "alternative" to seeking friends in person - which is precisely where real connections (and eventually relationships) get formed.

I honestly believe phone addiction and especially endless scrolling is contributing to the global decline in birth rates. The trend seems to have accelerated after Covid, when people became even more isolated and spent far more time online instead of socializing in person.
