In my first week as GS I declared my intentions by meeting with reps in dispute & choosing the picket line over a conference in Brighton. It's time to do what it says on the trade union tin. Not because politics doesn’t matter but because we have to get our priorities in order.👇

I stood as GS to ensure that our members don’t pay the price for #covid. I will absolutely push back on those employers that seek to use the pandemic as cover to ‘fire and rehire’ workers. Together we have won against #fireandrehire - we can keep on winning. #MembersGS

The action will be in the form of a 72 hour strike and complete ban on overtime starting on Monday 25th of October.

Of course our government must intervene to support energy intensive industries like steel, cement, ceramics … it’s what an industrial policy does! If only we had one … @beisgovuk @UKSteel__ @save_steel https://t.co/vVYhQfHUH5
We are at a crossroads now and the only responsible way to respond to the problems before us is collectively. Both business and the industries have to sit down with @unitetheunion and our sister manufacturing and energy unions to develop a plan. https://t.co/WBqSfaK17o
