I am shocked and saddened to learn of the unexpected death of my friend and colleague, @stevesilberman last night.
I'd always hoped for a chance to collaborate again. Co-writing this article with him was a true joy. He will be deeply missed.

@Eidle_Ira I call anything in Autistic space that starts showing up outside Autistic space “large”. An NT saying the same thing gets minimum 10x followers. I quit doing anything at all for a long time because I got tired of preaching to the choir.
@Eidle_Ira I missed the suicide story, too. All I remember is Terra was getting a lot of (justified) pressure shot the name and then got royally dumped on for the new name and I felt like I was seeing someone get so mob targeted that nothing would have pleased people.
@Eidle_Ira I missed those claims from Terra. Mostly my experience has been that Terra is one of the few larger publications out there centering the voices of non-speaking Autists.
@crippledscholar@mssinenomine The researcher claimed he thought it would be okay but his advisor vetoed it.
This morning I did an interview with a media person I trust and they specifically said (I did not ask) that letting me see what they will say about me before pub is unethical. I had no idea!
@Eidle_Ira@epballou My experience has been the opposite. I rarely spend time on Twitter because I feel more anxious here. But I find toxic dogpiles on every social media with a high enough population for interesting conversation. I carefully pick and choose where to go and when to say something.
@johnbhoy2345 @savororaidh Because the sounds I make are 100% expected and chosen for stim quality. Outside sounds are always unexpected and often bad stim.
@joelbaileyuk @savororaidh I'd be thrilled just for more shower privacy. I can't count how many times I wanted to go to the gym but didn't have the spoons for parading naked from changing room to shower then wet, back through public space to get to my clothes.
@mssinenomine@crippledscholar I participated as a subject in a study, where I was to provide photographs and words about topic. I asked could I do it under my name, bc am an artist and writer. Researcher said yes, so I participated. After I did all the work, was told my name would not be allowed. Not happy.
@NoNonsenseND Nope. I'm on the aphantasia spectrum.
I keep a perpetual grocery list on my phone and uncheck items as I run low on them, then check them off again when I'm shopping.
@abaukdiscussion @twillierod Thank you: You just described that whole analogy about fish climbing trees. Water is an accommodation for fish. They don't tend to function very well outside of it. If a fish ended up in the desert, the caring thing to do would be to "alter the environment" so it could survive.
@eduleadership@naomicfisher Some students have sensory issues due to disabilities that would preclude them from wearing shoes that had been worn by many other people.
@twillierod @ETIBerlin We need to build grassroots mutual aid in our communities. A good place to start reading about how we can do that is the book “Care Work: Dreaming Disability Justice” by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha
Those of you close to me know how long Mercury Muse has taken to grow from thought to offering. This journey!

@laurenancona I read books in bars a lot when I was homeless without a car to hang out in. Free happy hour buffet and a 75 cent glass of juice got me out of the weather, fed, and a comfy chair to read a book or do puzzles. Libraries and bars were my homeless shelters.
@VivvidsCom@milton_damian That would explain why I don’t have one! It was aggressively circumcised away. “My ween was severed at birth and all I got was this transgender autism”?
