The five components of deliberate practice:
1. Having specific goals.
2. Getting outside your comfort zone.
3. Giving your best effort.
4. Receiving immediate feedback.
5. Doing lots of repetitions.
When I did this demonstration, it revealed something every athlete eventually learns the hard way:
The moment we obsess over what we can’t control — umpires, coaches, weather, opponents, outcomes — the game gets harder and less enjoyable.
But when we lock in on the controllables — our breath, effort, body language, and next-pitch focus — everything simplifies. The game slows down, confidence rises, and enjoyment comes back.
The biggest separator in sports and life is mental toughness. And the foundation of mental toughness is controlling the controllables.
Like any skill, it’s built through intentional reps. And life gives us opportunities to train it every single day.
Underrated coaching truth:
The best coaches aren’t obsessed with talent.
They’re obsessed with effort.
With attitude. With toughness.
That’s what wins when it gets hard.
Very few, and I mean very few kids belong in D1 baseball as freshmen. Even less belong in P5 baseball.
With that being said. Every time I see a kid post a commitment to a junior college, D2, D3 or NAIA school, I think, that kid got good advice.
The kids that do belong in D1, and most especially P5 schools out of high school are the kids that are legitimately deciding between a pro contract and school.
The percentage of kids that get meaningful playing time as freshmen at D1, and most especially P5 schools advertises it's not a great decision for most.

Hopefully, a lot of MLB general managers have been watching the Blue Jays at bats and offensive approach, and understand it's exactly what it should look like in the big leagues.
A lot of MLB organizations are absolutely lost offensively. They've bought into the exit velocity, launch angle, strikeouts don't matter philosophy.
Always great to end the season with a win & it’s even sweeter when you contribute to the win with a rbi triple.
I want to thank my coaches and teammates @BaseballUPhilly for a great summer season!
Big shout out to @Tyleragriss with the walk off steal home💪
