The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project was built on the belief that every young person can succeed when given the support, guidance, and opportunity to thrive.
As we celebrate the end of another school year, I am proud of these young men and the example they set every day.
@Hunter4prison2@aallyahpatrice I don’t give a damn what it is. What kind of person still lives with the mindset in 2026 that you can burn a cross in a Black person’s yard to insult or intimidate them? A die hard racist that’s who!
Join the City of Miami Gardens for the Sgt. La David T. Johnson Memorial Day Breakfast on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 10AM. Honoring those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. 📍Senior Family Center | Register today: https://t.co/JaGnkGBeVx
Sixty nine years ago today, on May 17, 1957, my father delivered “Give Us the Ballot.” Its message still speaks with urgency.
At a time when voting rights continue to be challenged and weakened, his words remind us that the ballot is about dignity, representation, and the power to help shape a just society. That call is still before us.
I invite you to watch the full speech and reflect on what it still calls us to do:

Don Lemon: “Every time a black person names a racist thing, somebody accuses them of making it about race as if it was not already about race. As if the people who drew these maps were not thinking about race every single second they were drawing them. What is happening to Black voters in this country, it is a crime”
My father’s call to “March on Ballot Boxes” remains urgent.
In 1965, at the conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery March, he called for the kind of civic engagement that could help transform this nation. It is deeply troubling to witness progress that was so hard fought for being weakened and dismantled. But we must not be discouraged, and we must not be deterred.
That is why conversations like “The Power of the Vote: Protecting Democracy in a Defining Moment” matter so much. We must stay informed, stay engaged, and remain committed to protecting democracy at the ballot box and beyond.
I hope you will join The King Center virtually today at 12 PM ET for this critical conversation.

@ONLYinDADE It’s ridiculous and shows how small of a man you are that you feel the need to walk around displaying such a large firearm. Flip side is if he were a young Black man walking around downtown Miami he would be surrounded and probably taken down by a SWAT Unit. Tell me I’m wrong.
