Crypto Twitter has about 500 opinions on every single price move, and most of them are either wrong or written by someone with a token to sell to you.
We send the version that skips all of that and just tells you what actually happened and why it matters.

Filecoin’s ( @Filecoin ) six-year vesting schedule ends October 15, which could cut annualized new $FIL releases from about 89 million to about 21 million. Storage-provider rewards continue.
That’s a reduction in the pace of new tokens, roughly 68 million FIL a year, not 68 million FIL leaving circulation.
FIL rose 9.4% to about $1.22 as traders focused on the change, but lower issuance alone doesn’t guarantee a sustained rally, since price still depends on demand and whether holders sell into gains.
Filecoin is also pushing toward more paid storage demand through Filecoin Onchain Cloud, with AI, DePIN, and enterprise use as stated targets.

PERPTools ( @perptools ) gives traders a few ways to build points toward the confirmed $PERP airdrop: perpetual futures, spot swaps, AI agents, and referrals.
Its Season 2 campaign just began with fresh point balances, and spot trading is new this season, with a stated 0% swap fee.
AI Arena lets you create your own trading agent or deposit USDC into an existing one, and referrals earn 10% of their invitees’ points plus a share of their trading fees, paid in USDC.
Points convert proportionally into $PERP at the late Q4 2026 token launch, and the final allocation and conversion rate are still to come.

DogeOS ( @DogeOS ) is building out the Dogecoin ecosystem, and The Grand Heist is a fun way to explore it: pick a faction, complete weekly missions, and collect XP, medals, items, and tickets along the way.
The campaign runs on the Chikyū testnet with free test $DOGE. Ten stamps earn a ticket toward the Wheel of Doge.
No token has been announced yet, so it’s a great fit for anyone who simply enjoys exploring new Dogecoin apps.

Papertrade ( @papertrade_xyz ) turns trading losses into tokens: every closed losing position or liquidation mints PAPER, which can then be staked for a share of protocol fees paid in USDC.
The perps exchange launched October 10 on HyperEVM with BTC and ETH markets and no pre-mine, team allocation, or VC allocation.
At the initial rate, a $10 realized loss mints 1,000 PAPER while the pool is under $2 million. Staking PAPER can earn USDC from half of protocol fees plus excess liquidity above $5 million, though rewards vary and aren’t a guaranteed yield.

StarkWare’s CEO ( @EliBenSasson ) says the network is considering leaving Ethereum to become its own Layer 1.
StarkWare’s stated goal is quantum-resistant security by 2027. STARK proofs rely on hash functions rather than math that future quantum computers could break, though parts of the network would still need upgrades.
As a Layer 1, Starknet ( @Starknet ) could make those changes on its own schedule instead of waiting on Ethereum’s roadmap.
About 127 million $STRK are also scheduled to unlock on October 15, roughly 1.7% of circulating supply. An unlock doesn’t mean everything gets sold, but it is a supply event to watch after a move this size.

$NEAR is up roughly 83% in four weeks while Bitcoin sits below $83,000. A spot ETF and $33 billion in Intents volume are two drivers behind that move.
Bitwise’s NRR, the first US spot NEAR ETP, took in $5.13 million on October 9, bringing cumulative net inflows to $71.4 million.
NEAR Intents ( @near_intents ) has processed more than $33 billion across 36 chains, though cumulative volume isn’t the same as revenue or profit.
A governance proposal would cut maximum annual issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months, but it’s still a draft and nothing has been approved.

Scammers stole an estimated $17 billion from crypto users in 2025, and impersonation scams grew more than 1,400% year over year. Most of those losses started with a simple mistake, not a technical exploit.
Because most blockchain transactions can’t be reversed, the habits that matter are small ones: checking a URL character by character, reading what a wallet is asking you to approve, keeping long-term funds in a separate wallet from the one you use for DeFi, and never giving your recovery phrase to anyone, including someone claiming to be support. Turning on login and withdrawal alerts catches problems in minutes instead of days.
We broke down all 7 habits, a simple wallet-separation setup, and the warning signs that give most scams away: https://t.co/xGUBRE4X3W
Almost every real-world breach skips the math entirely. A cryptographic system can use a flawless algorithm and still fail if someone copies the key, guesses it, or stores it carelessly.
Cryptography is what lets a wallet prove ownership without a bank in the middle. Hashing links each block to the last so history can’t be quietly rewritten, and digital signatures prove a transaction came from the owner and wasn’t altered. The same building blocks protect secure browsing, messaging apps, and password managers, so none of this is specific to crypto.
We broke down how encryption, public-key cryptography, hashing, and signatures fit together, plus a five-step check for how your own keys are stored: https://t.co/9sCfQeqFbY
Your wallet address is public. Anyone can see it and see every transaction tied to it, but still can't get your private key. Only one of the three pieces can move your funds.
The public key and address exist so you can receive payments and let the network verify your signature. The private key authorizes spending, and you never need to share or transmit it.
That’s also why it isn’t like a password: no company issues it, so there’s no reset button or support line if you lose it.
Hacken’s Q2 2026 report linked 88.3% of the $763.9 million lost across 67 incidents to compromised keys, signers, and infrastructure.
We broke down how the pair works, what each piece looks like, and a step-by-step checklist for backing up your keys safely: https://t.co/hyIQ1Yc3uZ
Earning 5% more tokens doesn't protect you from a 30% drop in the token's price. Staking rewards are paid in the asset itself, so the price still decides your result.
Staking means committing crypto to a Proof-of-Stake network so validators can help secure it, with rewards set by the protocol and not guaranteed.
How you stake changes the trade-offs a lot: solo staking on Ethereum takes 32 ETH, delegation on Cardano keeps your ADA spendable in your own wallet, pools lower the entry bar but add smart contract risk, and exchange staking adds custody risk.
We broke down the four main ways to stake, the risks from slashing to unbonding periods, and a step-by-step checklist for picking a validator: https://t.co/3IGXfFPmXY
DAC Quantum Chain ( @dac_chain ) is building a Layer 1 around post-quantum cryptography from day one, and its Interstellar phase is the next step toward mainnet.
A Launch Code unlocks the Interstellar portal, where daily check-ins and missions earn Quantum Energy.
Seven straight check-ins unlock that week's badge, and progress from the Inception testnet carries over through an Interstellar Pass. Checking in is free.
The whitepaper also reserves 5% of the 1 billion token supply for a Grant/Community Airdrop allocation, and Quantum Crates are an optional extra that cost QE or USDC.

Evernorth expects to hold about 473 million $XRP when it lists as $XRPN. The debut just slipped from October 8 to October 12, and XRP is sitting right on its support.
The Ripple-backed treasury company cited an administrative delay, and the merger is now expected to close around October 9.
XRPN shares would be an ownership stake in a company, not direct XRP exposure like an ETF, so the stock can move on expenses and financing as well as XRP's price.
Much of the treasury has reportedly been acquired or committed already, so the listing isn't a guaranteed source of new buying.
XRP slipped toward $1.40 with Treasury yields climbing, while spot XRP ETFs still logged about $3.14 million in net inflows on October 6.

BitMine owns about 4.9% of Ethereum's circulating supply and says it will stop buying at 5%. That puts one of ETH's steadiest buyers close to the finish line.
Chairman Tom Lee said the company needs roughly 100,000 more $ETH to reach its goal, and ending new purchases isn't the same as selling what it holds.
The news landed as ETH slipped below $2,600, with spot ETH ETFs logging six straight days of outflows and about $238 million in long positions liquidated in 24 hours. Oil near $102 and a 10-year Treasury yield around 5.36% added macro pressure.
Support between $2,500 and $2,560 is the area to watch, since the setup stays unresolved until ETH either holds there or breaks lower.

Bitcoin's drawdown this cycle has been shallower than past ones. One year after its $126,000 high, $BTC sits about 32% below the peak, and spot ETFs took in roughly $6.3 billion in Q3.
BTC slipped below $83,000 this week after another run at the same resistance, with the 10-year Treasury yield near 5.36% and a stronger dollar adding pressure.
The Fed minutes showed officials broadly expect another hike could be appropriate before year-end, but gave no timing, and markets priced only about an 18% chance of one at the October meeting.
Open interest rebounded after the liquidation wave while funding stayed positive, so how leverage rebuilds from here will matter. Support between $81,000 and $83,000 is the area to watch.

Sleepagotchi ( @sleepagotchi ) turns better sleep into a game: set sleep targets, build a daily streak, and chat with an AI Sleep Coach alongside your Dinogotchi.
The app connects with wearables like Apple Watch, Oura, and WHOOP, and its Telegram companion, Sleepagotchi LITE, lets you start with no sleep tracking at all. Both are free, with no deposit or purchase needed.
Its $CHI token is confirmed on Solana, with a token generation event targeted for Q4 2026, and the Loyalty Program at the Sleepagotchi Hub tracks Sleep Points as you go.

Conduit says Brazilian police never flagged its wallet, yet Tether has held $2.76 million of its USDT frozen for over a year. Those are allegations, and Tether hasn't responded.
The cross-border payments firm sued Tether in the Southern District of New York on October 5.
Conduit says the wallet was its own working capital, not customer money, and that Tether picked the address using its own screening criteria after Brazilian authorities shared a separate list of addresses.
The company wants the USDT released, at least $2.76 million in damages, and any profits earned from the frozen funds.
Tether's terms give it broad powers to freeze tokens, so the court will have to decide whether it had sufficient legal grounds here. None of Conduit's claims have been tested yet.

In the FTX collapse, crypto sitting in custodial accounts turned out to be a claim against the company, not ownership. A self-custodial wallet removes that risk, and it also removes the safety net if you lose your keys.
You hold the private keys, so no exchange can freeze your balance or tie it up in bankruptcy court.
Your coins live on the blockchain, and the wallet just reads your balance and signs transactions. That means losing a phone or hardware device is recoverable, but losing the recovery phrase isn't.
The step most people skip is restoring the wallet from its backup on a second device before moving real money in.
We broke down how self-custody works, how it compares with custodial wallets, a first-time setup checklist, and the mistakes behind real losses: https://t.co/ZWAefQ6xVK
Ethereum just completed its first atomic transaction between mainnet and a Layer 2. The transfer was only 0.001 $ETH, but it linked a mainnet action and a rollup state update so they succeed or fail together.
The Ethereum Economic Zone, built by Gnosis and Zisk with Ethereum Foundation support, lets a compatible rollup call an Ethereum mainnet contract inside the same transaction and use the result.
The aim is to make L2s feel less like separate islands with split liquidity, without relying on a traditional bridge for that interaction.
Bitquery's independent analysis found eight of eight mainnet-to-L2 calls landed directly behind the batch containing their results in the first 24 hours.
It's a demonstration, not a rollout. Batch validation still relies on a single key, with zero-knowledge proofs planned for 2027, and wider benefits depend on more rollups adopting the framework.

Rain ( @raincards ) is applying for a federal national trust bank charter, a step that would bring custody, stablecoin reserve management, and stablecoin issuance under one federal framework.
The proposed Rain National Trust Bank would be based in New York and serve institutional clients, safeguarding approved digital and fiat assets as a fiduciary with customer assets segregated from the bank's own.
Today, the assets behind its partners' stablecoin card, wallet, and money-movement programs sit across state licenses, third-party custodians, and outside issuers. Brandon Soto, former CFO of Square Financial Services, is the proposed CEO.
Rain says it would not pledge, lend, or reuse the reserves backing stablecoins the bank issues, and the application now goes through the OCC's ( @USOCC ) review process, including a public comment period.

Nearly 9 million South Africans can now buy $BTC from their regular bank account, starting at R10. They can't withdraw it to an outside wallet, though.
FNB ( @firstnatbankgh ) launched Crypto Investing on October 6 with VALR as its infrastructure partner.
Customers can trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and USDT around the clock through FNB's existing share-trading products.
The holdings stay ring-fenced inside the bank's platform, and FNB cites security, compliance, and South African exchange-control requirements. That makes it an investment-exposure product, not a self-custody one.
FNB plans to add more assets and educational content, but hasn't said which assets or when.
