@MrBrightside319@chg3899@benjaminbutter@TfL I believe I've seen them in operation at Stratford station so would liase with TfL. Whilst they're not using it yet they are trialling "video analytics" as a way of counting fare evasion.
@MrBrightside319@chg3899@benjaminbutter@TfL Not really. Police already setup mobile facial recognition cameras at some mainline stations. TfLs experiment with "AI cameras" suggests a step towards facial recognition of fare evaders to create a database where they can track prolific offenders.
@MrBrightside319@chg3899@benjaminbutter@TfL And yet they will still evade despite your huge investment in getting more staff because you can't have them everywhere 24/7... how about people just paying the fare? Its a small percentage of people compared to the millions that use the service every week.
@chg3899@MrBrightside319@benjaminbutter@TfL I read in the recent TfL Commissioners report they're trialling "AI cameras" to assist in detecting fare evasion. I think facial recognition should come to the tube network to identify fare evaders AND wanted criminals.
@PrimeAeon@benjaminbutter@TfL Its the same in most large cities with a heavily used metro system. Benjamin acts as if its a London only problem... it is not.
@benjaminbutter@TfL How many stations are on the network and how many revenue protection officers are there and how much does it currently cost to have them?
@cheekychipz@benjaminbutter@TfL@Se_Railway DLR saw almost 4,500 penalty fares issued between April and November last year https://t.co/i1HTyh9PPq so its not true that they "don't bother". Bare in mind there's a difference between PSAs checking and actual Revenue Protection Officers.
@agw1437@netmnp@benjaminbutter@TfL They already do this. Even in plain clothes in high priority areas. You can't catch them all... well you could with facial recognition/AI cameras installed everywhere...
@netmnp@ShruggedAslef@NamuGriff@benjaminbutter@TfL If you can find the millions or more needed to fund a scheme to recruit thousands of revenue officers with powers to remove individuals from public transport and deal with court costs through prosecution do let us all know
@netmnp@benjaminbutter@TfL And London would quickly grind to a halt... Just get facial recognition cameras in. Get a trail of prolific offenders, create a database with police and log all fare evasion.
@benjaminbutter@TfL Benjamin Customer Service Assistants on gateline duties are there for customer service/assistance as per their title. They're not there to stop fare evaders. TFL employs revenue protection officers and investigators to deal with them. Gateline staff can only report.
@Jagger53015280@benjaminbutter@TfL Well if you could leapfrog you could still fare evade... fortunately according to TfLs latest commissioners report they're trialling AI cameras to help detect fair evaders. Would be good to get facial recognition and plot a record for prolific evaders.
