Fighting for free and fair elections for ALL voters. Utah coalition of conservative leaders, concerned citizens and officials dedicated to election integrity.
@Utah_EIN shares President Trump's concerns about the security and public confidence challenges associated with universal vote-by-mail systems.
At the same time, Utahns—not the federal government—should determine Utah's election laws. The authority to administer elections rests primarily with the states, and meaningful reform in Utah must come through Utah's elected representatives and citizens.
Utah began transitioning to universal vote-by-mail in 2012, and by 2020 every county was mailing ballots to active registered voters. Under current law, ballots will continue to be automatically mailed through the 2028 election cycle. Beginning in 2029, voters will be required to opt in to receive a ballot by mail.
While the opt-in reform is an important step forward, the Utah Election Integrity Network believes additional reforms are necessary to strengthen election security and restore public confidence. We will continue advocating for policies that move Utah away from universal vote-by-mail and toward a system that better protects both election integrity and voter trust.
We also commend Representative Karianne Lisonbee for championing Utah's SAVE Act, helping make Utah the fourth state in the nation to enact this important election integrity measure. We likewise appreciate Senator Mike Lee's efforts to advance the SAVE Act at the federal level.
Utahns deserve elections that are secure, transparent, and worthy of the public's trust.
