If a student doesn't appear/couldn't qualify for JEE Mains in his/her first attempt (class 12th) then why his/her attempt for JEE Advanced, in the next year is considered as second even if he/she didn't appear for it in the previous year?

The past 2 years were too uncertain for all of us. Some of us lost our loved ones, our parents lost their jobs, we couldn't adjust to the immediate shift to online mode of studies and all our savings were spent on buying basic necessities.

Online learning creates a division between cities and villages students as students from villages don't have smartphone and laptop to study online and villages have very poor internet connection which hampered students preparation.
