There are less number of days between prelims and mains this time. The uncertainty over the result is causing anxiety and loss of time of the lakhs of aspirants.

Subbarao criticised the current eligibility structure, under which aspirants can take the exam up to six times between the ages of 21 and 32. He pointed to the psychological burden many aspirants face after repeated failures. He argued that it's unrealistic to expect young candidates to voluntarily walk away after two or three unsuccessful attempts, even if they aren't suited for the civil services. 
He suggested that a maximum of three attempts and an upper age limit of 27 years would strike a more reasonable balance.
There is another argument in favour of curtailing the number of allowed attempts. Any examination that allows as many as six chances is likely to privilege mastery of the exam technique over inherent merit," he stated, adding that the selection process is prone to "type I and type II errors."

To complement this change, Subbarao proposed a second, annual recruitment channel targeting experienced professionals in the 40–42 age range. This would differ from ad-hoc lateral entries and instead function as a permanent, competitive entry tier conducted by the UPSC. "They can pursue other careers and take another shot at the exam mid-career,” he wrote.

The reservation system in UPSC is being misused rampantly and the body isn't doing anything about it.

1. In the OBC reservation system, the income of parents should be under 8 lakhs, but the agricultural income is not counted in that. A large number of businessmen through their CAs show their income as farm income, so that their children can get the benefit of OBC reservation.
2. Moreover, the income of the candidate himself is not counted in OBC reservation threshold of 8 lakhs. What are the chances that parents transfer everything to their child to show their income below 8 lakhs?
3. Also, if your parents are in Group C or Group D services and earning more than 8 lakhs, then also you can get the benefit of OBC reservation.
4. Supreme Court has ruled that sub-categorization in SC/ST can now be done. Will the government create creamy and non creamy layers in both the categories to rationalize the concept of reservation?
5. Needless to point out how EWS and PWD reservation has been misused by the candidates in the recent years.

पिछले दिनों विभिन्न परीक्षाओं की तैयारी कर रहे छात्रों-युवाओं से मुलाक़ात हुई, जिसमें UPSC समेत अन्य परीक्षाओं की तैयारी कर रहे युवा और ख़ासकर दिव्यांग छात्र शामिल थे।

हाल ही में NEET Scam, NET पेपर लीक और UPSC में फेक डिसेबिलिटी सर्टिफिकेट बनाकर भर्ती के कई मामले प्रकाश में आए हैं। UPSC के तरीक़े पर भी प्रश्नचिन्ह लगे हैं। छात्रों और युवाओं का भरोसा टूटा है। सवाल सिर्फ UPSC का ही नहीं, बल्कि NEET, NET, CAPF और केंद्र-राज्य में हो ���ही सभी भर्तियों का है।

केंद्र की BJP सरकार ने ऐसा कोई कदम नहीं उठाया जिससे भरोसा बढ़े और लगे कि भ्रष्ट व्यवस्था बदलेगी। NTA की जाँच कोई NTA का अधिकारी और UPSC की जाँच उसी सिस्टम के अंदर का व्यक्ति कर रहा है।

छात्रों की माँग है कि एक लोकपाल की तरह स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष परीक्षा जाँच की संस्था हो, जो देश की किसी भी परीक्षा में चल रही गड़बड़ी के मामले को सुने और कार्यवाही करे।

छात्रों की माँग जायज़ है और @nsui इसका समर्थन करती है।
