I imagine we specifically have Fred Prehn (Walker appointee whose term finished over a year ago and yet he still refuses to leave) and the other Walker appointees to thank for this.
Standards that are 17,000x higher than EPA safety guidelines are bad standards. Analogy: imagine thinking that setting a standard of only eating 80lbs of salt a day is a good decision. Again, the board prefers to listen to lobbyists instead of its own great scientists.
But that's why we're doing the work. Hopefully we can inform reintroduction efforts. We have the tools to save the species, but buy-in from all stakeholders is not quite where it need to be.... at least not yet.
