@tracybeanz No one will prescribe HRT for me. Not allowed to take anything else since I am an immunocompromised transplant recipient. Transplant won’t sign off on anything. I’ve basically been told to suck it up. Anyone else in my boat?
@NeilFlochMD The high and mighty don’t want the obese/overweight in their gyms, at their races, in their workout clothes or basically anywhere in their sphere. Then they get pissed off when we don’t lose weight the way they did. They closed off all other ways to us.
@TheWorthyHouse So I was 42 years old when I had a kidney transplant (needed due to an autoimmune disease) that all in was about a quarter mil. Do you think I should have done the “honorable” thing and declined a transplant? Just wondering where you draw your line.
@DGlaucomflecken My husband had to be admitted as an adult to a children’s hospital because that is where his neurosurgeon had admitting rights. The most depressing place in the world is the ER of a children’s hospital.
My name is Ken Welsh from Burbank, IL. I am 46 years old. I have been with my wife, Tiffany, for 22 years. We have two children, Ken Jr (20) and Kenzie (17). Some of you may know that I was diagnosed end stage renal disease in June of 2024. This means that my kidneys do not to work well enough to keep me alive. I need to do dialysis. I currently go to a dialysis center three days a week for about four hours per day. While I am there, I am connected to a machine which filters my blood, the function that my kidneys can no longer do.
I am currently on the kidney transplant list at Northwestern Hospital in Illinois and at the University of Iowa Hospital. I am being evaluated to be placed on the list at the University of Wisconsin Hospital as well. The wait time for a kidney transplant from the various lists (from a deceased donor) can be up to seven years. Until I can get a kidney transplant I will need to continue dialysis.
The best solution is to receive a kidney from a living donor. The benefits of living donor kidney transplants are well‐documented; the kidneys from living donors have longer survival rates, function better and have fewer complications than kidneys from deceased donors.
I am typically a very private person, but I need help. I’m not asking for money or financial support, I am lucky to have great insurance from my employer which covers most of my costs. I am asking for the greatest gift anyone can receive: a kidney donation.
If you would like to learn more about how the donation process works, please check out the following websites and hopefully fill out the questionnaire.
Please share my story, you never know.
Thank you,
Ken

@uptonaccounting James, I did home hemodialysis for a year and a half prior to my kidney transplant. If you have any questions about home hemo or the transplant process, please send me a DM and I will be happy to provide my experience.
@matt5530@dantypo That’s taking the blame off where it should be placed…the dealerships. No one should have to worry about getting fleeced when buying or servicing a car. That is how dealerships get their bad reputations.
@BangerReview @Brian_Butch @czabe @AndrewLudwig__ @ArmenSaryan @TheGameMKE This is the antithesis of a banger. My ears need to be cleansed of this rot. I shall put on some Led Zeppelin as contrast.
@TheDougFiles Go to computer lab at 10 PM, no outline in hand.
Mash keys on mechanical IBM PS/2 keyboard for 2-3 hours
Turn in paper next day
Repeat for four years
Graduate summa cum laude
@kidneyrebel Hah! I always said no dietitian should be allowed in a dialysis center unless they spent a week on the standard dialysis diet, including a national holiday that they had to spend with family and no control over the menu.
@PierreJouet@deathmetalv10@1upInfinty@Heliotrophy Yeah, that is no fun for sure. I know some docs use a combo of MiraLAX and Gatorade instead of GoLytely (the worst named product ever). Maybe that would be an option for you?
