This is a wonderful paper Valentin Kecht, Alessandro Lizzeri, and Farzad Saidi. The analysis makes a persuasive argument that long and diverse career paths are increasingly valued. As such, the model speaks to issues ranging from the right tail of executive compensation to meaning of meritocratic matching in firms. The paper complements arguments made by Michelle Jackson @mivich in her brilliant book The Division of Rationalized Labor on increasing job complexity in the modern economy.
In which we study how firms' use of big data shapes the transmission of macroeconomic shocks to investment, with data-intensive firms responding more strongly to monetary policy shocks while their data intensity exhibits a non-linear relationship with investment cyclicality.
I coded up an open-source, not-for-profit AI paper reviewer that rivals the performance of @reviewer3com, @RefineInk, and Stanford Agentic Reviewer (according to @GeminiApp). Costs <$2!

I have leftover funding for a PhD student for one year (ideally Sept '25 - Sept '26). Might be a good fit for someone wanting to delay going on the market. Please send interested students my way!
You do research in macroeconomics, broadly related to the topics of finance and inequality? You have an upcoming sabbatical or summer time off? Have a look at this opportunity to become a visiting fellow of at our @dfg_public sponsored center CASFI at @UniBonn for 3 to 6 months.
Had a great time in the West Midlands for the Warwick PhD conference. Excellent organisation and selection of papers. Even managed a central position in the group pic alongside my amazing discussant and fellow presenter @KamalKassam
Apply next year if you can!
