I dislike having my books banned (and mischaracterized by folks who haven't read them), but what I really dislike is when hard-working and deeply committed librarians are fired for no good reason by vindictive, unprofessional culture warriors who care nothing for actual kids.
Several years ago the sole remaining person (a notable poet) who still called me just to talk passed away; a year later, the last remaining person who still sent me letters (mail!) passed away. Now—no calls except solicitors & no mail except bills.
The Eleanor Roosevelt Banned Book Awards are this month. @judyblume is getting a well-earned lifetime achievement award. Her books have been getting banned for a long time — and at this point, we consider that a badge of honor. Congrats, Judy, and thanks. https://t.co/IjUJYucXfR
750,000 cheers for San Francisco librarian @mychal3ts. Mychal has 750,000 fans on social media. A librarian has that many fans? Wow. And he’s shy, to boot. But Mychal’s message is powerful. 750,000 fans. Plus me. Plus you?
My reply to the board members of @FishersIN and @NoblesvilleIN seeking to remove my books (and over a hundred others) from the young adult literature shelves in their libraries. Heartbreaking for this to happen in Central Indiana, where I live and strive to support.
The Fault in Our Stars has been removed from the YA section in the suburbs of Indianapolis and is now considered a "book for adults." This is ludicrous. It is about teenagers and I wrote it for teenagers.
Teenagers are not harmed by reading TFIOS. This is such an embarrassment to the city of @FishersIN.
The librarians are fighting back.
A middle school librarian in Louisiana filed a defamation lawsuit Wednesday arguing that two men falsely labeled her a pedophile who wants to teach 11-year-olds about anal sex.

In the 1990's, Robin and his friend, Whoopi Goldberg, testified before the US Senate, asking them to end the homelessness crisis.
"You can't keep picking people up. You have to stop them from falling."
It's one of the most powerful speeches you'll see.
BREAKING: Workers at an Amazon warehouse in Kentucky are officially unionizing with Amazon Labor Union.
Workers in Campbellsville, KY will become the first local chapter of @amazonlabor outside Staten Island.
The lead organizer says Amazon is already spying on union activity.
On Prime Day, remember that Amazon avoided about $5,200,000,000 in corporate federal income taxes in 2021. The real freeloaders in this country are corporations, not the poor.
