Francesca Hong when asked if voters should fear socialism and communism:
“No. This is a state where we will still have a $2.33 tipped minimum wage and $7.25 minimum wage. It's gonna be hard to turn that into socialism soon, but what we can do is fight for policies that put working-class people first.”
This is a better answer than what we normally get from democratic socialists running for office.
We live under a dystopian capitalist system where 70% of Americans struggle to afford housing, healthcare, and groceries, yet the media and both parties constantly fearmonger about socialism. It’s insanity!
Socialists need to stop backing down when asked about socialism and communism. It’s not only weak but also concedes power to the capitalist system people are struggling under and fighting against.
Socialists should pivot to policies that improve the material conditions of the working class and call out the absurd notion that we should “fear socialism” when we live under a capitalist system that’s failing the majority as it consolidates wealth into fewer and fewer hands.
What people should fear is capitalism because it’s the reason our country is in decay.
@ConstitustionX Quit lying. He didn't just say this, this clip is obviously from years ago. Also, this clip is so sloppily edited out of context, it's abundantly clear the editor is trying to hide the racist, elitist comment that he's replying to with hyperbole.
Try a little harder next time.
@420gamertv@Kentuckygirl1 You clearly know nothing about socialism. Socialists don't need to take a vow of poverty and distribute their personal wealth and stay poor. They're not monks. Put down the weed for a minute and look up what socialism means. You're too old to be this ignorant.
@LibertyMeaux@Kentuckygirl1 What's your point? Hasan Piker is secular. He doesn't believe in God or practice Islamic rituals, and doesn't advocate for any of the tenets of Islam or Islamism (two distinct things, btw). He's what you'd call "culturally Muslim", in the same way there are secular/cultural Jews.
@Ray234989766086@Ariel13792991@kevinnbass He doesn't deny saying the words he said, he denies actually saying it sincerely. It's been edited out of context here, but the full clip makes it clear that he doesn't believe these words, but rather that this is what his right-wing and centrist haters pretend he believes.
@Ariel13792991@kevinnbass Great question, and if you actually do your research, it could lead you to the correct answer, which is that this clip is edited out of context, and what the full clip reveals is this was just him doing an impression of what ppl falsely accuse him of believing, or he'd be banned.
@rickberland@kevinnbass Because he wasn't inciting violence, he was doing an impression of what liars say he believes, and was edited out of context for this clip. So now you see a clip of just the impression, without the context, and assume it's what he actually advocates for. You've been duped.
@CogitoInGa@hasanthehun Your brain either can't detect satire or sarcasm, or you're intentionally misleading people by taking obviously sarcastic quotes out of context and projecting sincere and malicious meaning and intent onto them. So cliche at this point. 🙄
@BeninDenver_com@hasanthehun Who do you think he exploits, exactly? His businesses are worker co-operatives with equal say and equal pay. He doesn't say "anyone else but me who is successful is exploitative", he just says billionaires (and now trillionaires) can't exist without exploitation, which is true.
@theravenmanx@gudpeshko@astorialands@iamyesyouareno@hasanthehun The point is that he's an American citizen living in America, and the tweets that he's replying to are from American accounts, so obviously what matters is how America classifies Turkish Americans.
@supremelybig@AlwaysFlacko@DemsForMike They're mocking the Dems for Mike account in that first paragraph, not claiming to be Dems voting for a Republican for the first time.
@beyond_process@ReharSafiya@cashcoltrane@DemsForMike Nah, it's just that the Israel lobby hasn't needed to spend much on his primary because he ran unopposed. They've already vowed to spend more than they spent on Stevens in the general election.
@Woodchipper9000@Imposter_Edits@DemsForMike What has he ever said or done to make you believe he's an Islamist (if you even know what that means)? Most Muslims aren't Islamists, you know...
