@ChrisFigz_@PaulTassi As a Destiny player, we don't even want Marathon to appeal to us. We just want more of Destiny. If Bungie tries to mix the two, it'll bring them both down even further.
@DirtyEffinHippy@nick71223@totithoth Then it's on Sony to do what has to be done and cut the issue at its head. Take leadership out and replace it with people that will get it on track or even CARE how the game does in the first place.
@DirtyEffinHippy@johnnc2@totithoth And that's great for them, but Bungie built the past 12+ years on Destiny and giving US a community. To just abandon that is the absolute worst thing they can do. Hell, even HALO is still going, even if it hasn't been at its peak in a long time. Marathon won't ever save Bungie.
@DirtyEffinHippy@totithoth We all know that isn't true. Why release a game and shut the other down if the plan was never for the other game to be successful and overtake it? If the plan was to keep both running, and they failed that, then it doesn't even matter if we play Marathon or not. It's already done
Well done, everyone! Keep it coming! 101k on Destiny 2 on Steam alone! That means likely 800k+ across all platforms in just 25 mins! We got this! #WeWantDestiny3
@Wait_hmo@Garbear0II9@PaulTassi@MacticsG1 Keep in mind, Destiny still makes money. Post-June 9 you can still buy silver and a lot of people probably will over time. At this point it just needs to cover maintenance costs which is realistically not that high comparatively. Maybe a few thousand or so per month at most.
@PaulTassi@Wait_hmo@MacticsG1 I didn't play it but I assumed that would happen. People farming loot in the PvE mode to take it to PvP and overwhelm people. And if you die you just go back to PvE and do it again. At that point it's just a looter shooter with a bit of PvP (like Lawless Frontier but with risk).
@BaconStrpz@MacticsG1 Genuinely, Lawless Frontiers was perfect for a whole game like this. Should've just expanded it to its own game and make it a true looter shooter extraction game.
@PaulTassi Playing an alt to just keep enjoying the grind. And loving every second of it. The issue isn't the game being bad. It was running out of progression. An alt fixed that.
@AznSlickSlaya@GernaderJake And the thing is. I don't think Marathon makes it past year 2 unless a D3 is in development. I think Bungie relies on Destiny more than they seem to realize. But as soon as they cave and start working on D3, people would try Marathon in the meantime. I know it. Sony knows it.
@AznSlickSlaya@GernaderJake I hope for the best case scenario: Layoff rumors are fake, they hire more devs and work on a D3 simultaneously with Marathon. Best of both worlds. But the question is if that is even possible.
