India plans to add 80,000 MW of thermal capacity by 2031-32, with 29,200 MW under construction and 51,520 MW in planning.

Total installed capacity is set to reach 777.14 GW by 2029-30. Additionally, 20,047.5 MW of hydroelectric projects are under construction, and 74,985.5 MW are in planning.

The government aims to expand the power transmission network with 1,91,474 ckm of lines and 1,274 GVA transformation capacity, ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy mix.
