@IvanaDGreco@KeturahAbigail Heck, I think Keturah was trying to ENCOURAGE this conversation, that you need backup plans if your first vision of schooling isn't working out, instead of refusing to change what you're doing out of pride
@abysstoabyss If they couldn't nail down a universal age, why not tie it to a range of months prior to walking? Why remove it entirely, which the public has taken as "not a milestone" when its absence is highly predictive of learning disabilities? It's just such a stupid decision
@PunkyMantilla Seriously underdiscussed benefit of homeschooling that I spent my teen years getting 9-10 hours of sleep with 0 consequences to my educational or social outcomes. Bed at 9:30, up at 7:30. I feel for the sleep deprived adolescents.
@MrsBystander Waldorf has been trickling into the broader crunchy consciousness for years now. Theoretically Montessori moms wouldn't be doing felt birthday crowns but here we are
@DianeGreger@RealMattCouch Yes, if someone attacks him he should kick back. Correct. Gracious, there's no way you people have ever met a rooster! If the kid were too little to kick back they'd have chicken soup that night
picked up my boomer aunt and uncle from the airport, they were joking about how now that theyβre retired their job is to travel enough to spend their kidβs inheritance money
The root issue here is that you are not, spiritually, supposed to retire. From a job that isn't the best use of your time any more? Sure, maybe. But retire from contributing to the world? No, not until you *can't.*
Making all of your kids start over from scratch is a poverty mindset Iβve never been infected with and Iβm grateful for that. I might have been financially broke before but Iβve never been *itβs my time to enjoy my money* spiritually broke before.
Millenials built upon this rot by pedestalizing extended leisure even earlier in life, especially travel. A full passport is a flex. "I'd rather spend my money and time traveling than have kids" is a "mature" thing to say. They repackaged hedonism as vocation.
@nicholascarrigg@ThymeToBeBorn I can respect this take. I'd tell you it was well worth effectively red shirting the kids to correct course if the options were home school vs public school, but if you trust the private school enough that is different.
@HannahWardEdu You know who else told everyone there was nothing special to him, he just tried harder? My Dad. You know what TWO SEPARATE CLINICAL IQ TESTS DECADES APART showed?
159 and 160 IQ results, respectively.
Geniuses are idiots sometimes.
@singinghomeward@trequor_ Oh yeah, everyone chooses wardrobe options that are easier in the beginning. Worst case scenario shorts from the boys' section (looser). There are different types of stools - you sound like you need a two-step one. Also you can use a potty instead of the toilet initially.
@blockhead4000 According to this my trolling husband with his 5-figures-per-month gaming social media channel who has taken a great interest in the dove chicks nesting in the eves must be unattractive.
Remember kids, you can get away with anything if you're rich enough and muscly enough.
@trequor_@singinghomeward He also can't pull his pants down, which is usually a 1 year old thing. I think there's more going on than just late potty training.
