Chemmani Mass Grave Excavation – Phase 3 | Day 35

Today, 11 more human skeletons were cleaned and identified during the excavation of the Chemmani mass grave.

With this, the total number of human skeletons cleaned and identified across all three phases of the excavation has risen to 431, while 423 skeletons have been fully exhumed.

Today, Accumulation Nos. 30 and 31 were also identified during the excavation process.

A damaged ring was recovered as an artifact during today’s excavation. Another ring was recovered as an artifact during yesterday’s excavation.

The excavation is being carried out under the supervision of the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court and the relevant forensic and archaeological authorities.
