Both Vanderbilt - last season's top overall seed - and LSU - the CWS champs - exited the tournament, ending injury-riddled and frustrating seasons. These programs are led by two of the best in the sport and have blueprints for success. This shows just how challenging it can be to have sustained success in today's uber-volatile landscape. In other words, if it can happen to them, it can happen to your team too.
Those fans of teams who may be griping about not making a top eight or not hosting, just look around and appreciate the accomplishment of being in the fight. While the national title is the annual goal for some programs, today's college baseball is going to leave you a stocking full of coal occasionally. LSU, Vanderbilt, and Clemson all hosted in 2025 and will miss the field in 2026. Louisville and Arizona played in Omaha and won't make the postseason. Duke won a regional and will stay home. Winning is hard. Winning each season is as tough as it has ever been. -- For more:
Not an attack on any of these teams, but it's time to abolish RPI as a baseball committee metric when teams like Mercer (25), Miami-Ohio (38) and SEMO (39) are ranked where they are. They're a combined 1-7 against teams that are for-sure in the field and were out-scored 81-34.
NEW: Vanderbilt true freshman QB Jared Curtis is appearing in Nate Bargatze’s new movie “The Breadwinner” as part of his NIL deal with the Commodores🎬

Vanderbilt Roster Outlook
Assuming Tyler Tanner comes back, Vanderbilt will be looking like a top-25 squad again next year according to https://t.co/NEBQZul4un.
Vandy is 15th in Overall Transfer Activity, almost exactly where they were last season.
