डॉक्टरों के ख़िलाफ़ हिंसा पे जब मैंने लिखा तो कई लोगों ने अलग अलग तरीक़ों से आपत्ति जताई।

1) डॉक्टर ठीक से बात नहीं करते।
2) डॉक्टरों द्वारा लूट मचाई जाती है दवाईयों और जाँच के नाम पर
3)डॉक्टर इलाज तो शुरू कर सकते गंभीर मरीज़ों का। वो क्यों नहीं की जाती।
4)सरकारी अस्पतालों में कई देर तक भी इलाज शुरू नहीं होता।
5) डॉक्टरों द्वारा इलाज में लापरवाही होता उसका क्या?

कोशिश करता हूँ कि आपके सवालों का जवाब दूँ।

देखिए चिकित्सा विज्ञान अपने आप में पूर्ण विज्ञान नहीं है। हर मरीज़ अलग तरीक़े से बर्ताव करते हैं और एक ही दवाई दो मरीज़ में अलग अलग तरीक़े का प्रभाव दिखा सकती है।
इसी तरह किसी भी इलाज की गारंटी दे पाना संभव नहीं हो पाता ख़ास कर icu के मरीज़ों में क्योंकि मरीज़ की स्थिति में कितना सुधार होगा इसकी तय समय सीमा ख़ुद किसी डॉक्टर को पता नहीं होती। रिकवरी में बहुत बड़ा योगदान मरीज़ के अपने शरीर का भी होता है।
और जब डॉक्टर ये बात मरीज़ के परिजन को बताते हैं तो कई बार उन्हें लगता है कि सही जानकारी नहीं दी जा रही। ऐसा है नहीं। कई बार वो आपको बस तय समय सीमा नहीं बता पाते।

इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं है की कई बार अस्पतालों में महँगी दवाई और जाँच लिखी जाती है। किसी एक लैब या दुकान से ही दवाइयाँ और जाँच के लिए भी कहा जाता है।
ये पूरी तरह ग़लत है और आपको अपने अधिकार जानने की भी ज़रूरत है की इसके लिए आपको बाध्य नहीं किया जा सकता।
अगर कोई अस्पताल ऐसा करता है तो आप अपने ज़िले के सिविल सर्जन से शिकायत कर सकते हैं और अपने मरीज़ को अन्य अस्पताल में तुरंत शिफ्ट करने को कह सकते हैं।

लेकिन किसी अस्पताल के ऐसा करने का ये मतलब नहीं कि आप डॉक्टरों के विरुद्ध हिंसा करे। उचित शिकायत की जगह निर्धारित है, अपनी शिकायत वहाँ दर्ज करें।
हमेशा याद रखें की डॉक्टर और अस्पताल के कर्मचारी भी इंसान हैं। आप जीतने ग़लत तरीक़े से उनसे बात करेंगे वो उतने ही अनमने ढंग से आपके मरीज़ को देखेंगे। आप जितने अच्छे तरीक़े से उनसे बात करेंगे वो उतना ही अपनी ओर से अच्छा प्रयास करेंगे। ये एक मानवीय स्वभाव है।

अगले बार किसी गंभीर मरीज़ को लेकर अस्पताल ले जाइयेगा तो अपने डॉक्टर को कह कर देखियेगा की आपको जो सही लगे आप अपना प्रयास करिये। वो अपना सर्वोच्चतम प्रयास देंगे और अगर फिर भी मरीज़ ना बचे तो आपको उनकी आँखों में इस बात की टीस दिखाइये देगी कि वो बचा नहीं पाये।

हर मरीज़ को बचाया नहीं जा सकता। कई बार गंभीर मरीज़ तमाम प्रयासों के बावजूद नहीं बचाये जा पाते हैं। ऐसी स्थिति में अगर उस मरीज़ के परिजन हिंसा करते हैं तो डॉक्टर अगले गंभीर मरीज़ को लेने से कतराते हैं। और यही वजह है कि क्यों वो तत्काल रेफ़र कर देते हैं।

इलाज में लापरवाही का मतलब इलाज में होने वाले कॉम्प्लिक्शंस नहीं हैं। लापरवाही है कि क्या डॉक्टर ने वो नहीं किया जो उसे करना चाहिए था?
अगर वो नहीं किया तो लापरवाही है। लेकिन उसने वो किया लेकिन परिणाम आपके अनुसार नहीं आया तो वो लापरवाही नहीं है।
इस बात को समझना काफ़ी ज़रूरी है

डॉक्टरों पे ख़ास कर सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेज में काम का कितना दवाब है आप सोच नहीं सकते।

मेरा मित्र जिस मेडिकल कॉलेज ने न्यूरोसर्जरी में रेसिडेंट है वहाँ कुल 6 रेसिडेंट हैं। उसमे से 2 फाइनल ईयर का एग्जाम देंगे तो वो उसमे भी व्यस्त रहते। 2 रेसिडेंट इसी साल आये हैं।
इनके ज़िम्मे है

1) हर रोज़ क़रीब 10 सर्जरी
2) रोज़ाना 200 मरीज़ की ओपीडी
3) जो क़रीब 100 पेशेंट इनके विभाग में एडमिट हैं उन्हें देखना
यही वजह है कि वो जल्दबाज़ी में रहते हैं और जैसा आपको चाहिये उतना समय नहीं दे पाते हैं। वो दे ही नहीं सकते। 24 घंटे लगातार काम करें तो भी वो एक मरीज़ को 2 मिनट से ज़्यादा नहीं दे सकता। वही मैंने अमेरिका में रेज़िडेंसी कर रहे एक मित्र से बात की तो उसने कहा कि उसे अधिकतम रोज़ाना सिर्फ़ 10-12 मरीज़ देखना है। आप फ़र्क़ समझ लीजिये।

सबसे दुखद ये है कि मेडिकल साइंस कैसे काम करता है इसकी समझ ना समाज को है, ना सरकार को और ना हमारी अफ़सरशाही को। सबको लगता है कि वो एक्सपर्ट है।

और जो वाक़ई में एक्सपर्ट है वो कोने में खड़ा मार खा रहा है।
