To facilitate both the overall plan and purchases, the German Cabinet on Wednesday approved a long-term draft budget to double defense spending, with an increase by as much as €162 billion ($189 billion) by 2029. In addition, the draft budget for 2026 calls for Germany to purchase and transfer up to €8.5 billion ($9.7 billion) in military aid for Ukraine.
