@BrianLehrer@imaniperry@WNYC It's important to remember that NYC is the place with the most segregated schools in the nation. Even as we love our multiculturalism, schools with whiter and wealthier students are still the most desirable and any effort to change that faces a huge backlash.
We have been overusing and misusing standardized tests created by third party for profit companies for over 20 years. My More Teaching Less Testing Act would ensure our kids are not being forced to stifle their creativity and infinite brilliance through yearly standardized tests.

@GovKathyHochul is pushing for a massive expansion of charter schools in New York City right now through the state budget.
🚨 Email Gov. Hochul and your State Legislators now and tell them: Don't raise the cap! → https://t.co/RaYdne9csa
@RepGraceMeng@Grace4NY Will you please co-sponsor H.R. 1741 the "More Teaching, Less Testing" Act to reduce the number of federally required standardized tests? https://t.co/ty3xN5IUj6
Sorting children into pathways that have immense power to determine their futures, based on their grades when they are eight- or nine-years-old, is inconsistent with a vision for a city where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: 165 Congressional and agency staff have sent a letter to President Biden and Senator Schumer this morning demanding robust climate policy and a climate emergency declaration now.
We refuse to remain silent until climate policy is passed.

I’m old enough to remember when Manchin and Sinema both voted to carve out the filibuster in December 2021 to raise the debt ceiling.
Don’t you dare say this Senate can’t get rid of the filibuster.
Make no mistake: Today's overruling of Roe v. Wade is the culmination of a deliberate effort over decades to upset the balance of our law.
It’s a realization of an extreme ideology and a tragic error by the Supreme Court.
Find yourself a Democratic Party establishment that fights as hard for reproductive rights as it fought to crush Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaigns.
Democrats hold all the levers of power to correct our slide into fascism and their only response is telling people to vote to give them power they already possess. Their inaction makes them complicit.
There seems to be confusion around NYC school funding. To be clear:
June 10:
Mayor Adams and Speaker Adams proposed a budget that decreased the total funding for schools
June 13:
44 Councilmembers voted yes on the proposal and it passed
Overturning Roe v. Wade and denying women the right to control their own bodies is an outrage and in defiance of what the American people want. Democrats must now end the filibuster in the Senate, codify Roe v. Wade, and once again make abortion legal and safe.
