On 18–19 June, the E-ARC workshop on resilience concluded a two-event series held under #CEI2026RomanianPresidency, 🇷🇴 following the cybersecurity conference held on 7-8 May. By connecting EU member-states with EU candidate-countries, the CEI turns shared vulnerabilities into collective strength through dialogue and cooperation.

Injured people, destroied apartment, explosion and fire.
Swift and sharp condemnation from NATO and the European Union.
Serious and irresponsible escalation by the Russian Federation.

A russian drone carrying explosives, involved in the bombing of infrastructure in Ukraine crashed in Galați, Romania, causing a fire on the roof of a residential apartment building.

Two persons sustained minor injuries and several residents required medical attention, the building was evacuated.

Two aircraft and a helicopter belonging to the Romanian Air Force were scrambled when Russian drones appeared on the radar, they had permission to shoot.

This incident represents a serious and irresponsible escalation by the Russian Federation.

Romania will take the necessary diplomatic response measures regarding this serious violation of international law and of its airspace.

Romania has informed European member states, the Allies and the NATO Secretary General of the circumstances and has requested measures to accelerate the transfer of anti-drone capabilities to Romania.

The Russian Federation bears direct responsibility for these grave and irresponsible actions.

Romania will act with the utmost determination to increase international pressure on the Russian Federation with a view to achieving an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire.

Kicking off the #B9Summit in #Bucharest with a coordination meeting together with @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte and Polish President @NawrockiKn.
The B9 format brings added value for the security of the Alliance as a whole and our Summit starting tomorrow aims at making a concrete contribution to the success of the NATO Summit in Ankara, including on meeting the Hague commitments on defence spending and further assistance to Ukraine.
The #EasternFlank countries are already taking more responsibility for European defence and I underlined the strategic importance of the Black Sea for regional and Euro-Atlantic security and the need for more decisive action to counter the assertive behavior of Russia.

Russia has issued a callous threat to massively bomb Kyiv. This comes on the heels of a murderous series of Russian attacks that caused numerous civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructures in Ukraine.  Escalation, terror, recklessness, disregard for human life - this is Russia’s response to Ukraine’s repeated proposals for a ceasefire. RO will not review or change its diplomatic presence in Kyiv. We will stand with Ukraine, particularly in face of such iresponsabile threats as those issued by the Russian MFA spokesperson in blatant disregard of Viena convention provisions. The only effective response to threats is consistency, determination and solidarity.
