दिल्ली की एक एंटीक दुकान में स्क्वाड्रन लीडर टी.पी.एस. चिन्ना की नजर एक महावीर चक्र पर पड़ी। उस पर नाम था—कैप्टन गुरजिंदर सिंह सूरी।

उन्होंने तुरंत समझ लिया कि यह किसी सैनिक के परिवार की अमानत है।

यह वही महावीर चक्र था, जो 2006 में कर्नल टी.पी.एस. सूरी के मोहाली स्थित घर से चोरी हो गया था। चिन्ना ने उसे खोजकर रविवार को परिवार के घर पहुंचा दिया।

25 वर्षीय कैप्टन गुरजिंदर सिंह सूरी ने 9 नवंबर 1999 को फौलाद पोस्ट पर दुश्मन के खिलाफ आखिरी सांस तक लड़ते हुए वीरगति पाई थी।

RPG से गंभीर रूप से घायल होने के बाद भी उन्होंने पीछे हटने से इनकार कर दिया और अपने जवानों को निर्देश देते रहे।

उनकी शहादत के बाद छोटे भाई रणधीर सिंह सूरी ने कॉरपोरेट ���ौकरी छोड़ सेना ज्वाइन की और भाई की विरासत आगे बढ़ाई।

1999 के बाद अगला महावीर चक्र करीब दो दशक बाद गलवान के वीर कर्नल संतोष बाबू को मिला—वे भी बिहार रेजिमेंट से थे।

ऐसे परिवारों की वजह से ही भा��त की धरती वीरों से कभी खाली नहीं होगी।
