Things you learn when researching cybersecurity:
The first stealth virus was called Frodo — yes, that Frodo —because after being infected, the message "FRODO LIVES!" would flash on your screen. This was basically a meme.
Even in the 80's, cybercriminals were trolls.
When I interned at the Guelph Mercury, I had lunch at Vienna 2-3 times a week. After a few days, they knew my name and order — an experience I've never had anywhere else.

In fairness my offer was slightly under asking price, but it was made after the owner asked my agent for exactly that number! Some of this is definitely sellers’ agents putting the wrong ideas into their heads.
Toronto real estate woes pt. 7625: After I made an offer on a property (-13% from peak pricing), the seller countered by offering me a one per cent discount — in the worst market conditions Toronto has seen in years.
@BatPost@jamespmcleod I’ve been to a few showings of places that have been on the market for 40+ days without being sold because the homeowners won’t go below listing price or may only be willing to take a $10k haircut. If those offers aren’t coming in now, they won’t come in after the next BoC hike.
@BatPost@jamespmcleod I think the main thing is the longer their listing is gathering dust and the longer they refuse to negotiate below what are still sky high listing prices, the less likely it is they actually sell the place and/or get the same offer that they previously declined.
@jamespmcleod This is literally what every homeowner is thinking right now and why it makes buying a place nearly impossible. I put an offer on a place recently and got a counter offer with a 1% discount lol.

I went to a showing for a townhouse that was listed at $699K. It received two offers by its offer date and didn’t sell. The next day, it was relisted at $900k.
Yeah, that’ll do it.
This really comes down to GTA sellers refusing to acknowledge a new reality.
I’ve gone to five showings in the past two weeks and sellers are still using Feb/Mar sold data to ask for the same money. They’re basically sticking their fingers in their ears.
