@EddieComeaux College athletes should be compensated. The amount of time and energy they put into their craft is comparable to a full-time job. Amateur rules only exist to exploit student-athletes talents. #athleteinclusion
@DianeCamposUCR @Songling_GSOE I agree with your statement. Student-athletes are being deprived of an educational experience. Receiving As does not mean that these students are receiving a quality education. #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE @saragrummert
#UCR150 @Songling_GSOE @saragrummert Black athletes academics are not being prioritized by athletic systems. These students are being exploited for financial gain.
@cheyeljack It makes sense that the NCAA promotes this. Their main concern is making money off of student-athletes skill. They do not truly value the student-athletes academic or professional success.
@TylerYee8 @Songling_GSOE #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE @saragrummert I really like the image you chose. The NCAA's greed is what influences them to restrict student-athletes right to transfer institutions. Your image captures this perfectly.
@Songling_GSOE @saragrummert#UCR150 Student-Athletes who have a desire to change career paths should be allowed to transfer universities if their institution does not offer the major they need. The rule against this is extremely limiting.
@PizanoDenise @Songling_GSOE @Songling_GSOE @saragrummert#UCR150 Coaches and trainers need to be held accountable for the health of student-athletes. Brain injuries are very serious and can be life-threatening. More legal accountability needs to be put in place for this issue.
@Songling_GSOE @saragrummert#UCR150 Should providing medical treatment for concussions be a requirement for institutions when having athletes sign to their school?
@christyng22 @Songling_GSOE @songling_gsoe @saragrummert#UCR150 I do not believe Title IX will give female athletes the same opportunities nor treatment as male athletes. There are so many factors that go into college athletics and the gender exclusivity of sports teams that Title IX can address.
@saragrummert @Songling_GSOE #UCR150 Since most sports teams are gender exclusive, should Title IX laws still apply to sports in the same way as other fields?
@araanzaaguirre @Songling_GSOE I agree. Student-athletes should be given 4-year scholarships. If the schools want athletes to commit to them, the schools need to make a commitment to the athletes. #UCR150@saragrummert @Songling_GSOE
@Alejand77947089@saragrummert I definitely agree with this perspective. Institutions are taking advantage of the student-athlete title. Student-athletes need more rights. @saragrummert @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
@Songling_GSOE @saragrummert#UCR150#UCR50 Do student-athletes deserve more protections and benefits such as 4-year scholarships and guaranteed health care?
@christyng22 @Songling_GSOE I definitely agree. If coaches are being payed to coach amateur athletes, the athletes should be being payed as well. If the system is truley for charity why are some individuals being payed and others are not. I believe the non-profit status should be taken away from the NCAA.
Should all students who are heavily involved in extracurricular activities be compensated or awarded scholarships for their efforts? They are basically taking on full-time jobs for free. @Songling_GSOE @saragrummert#UCR150#UCR50
