However, history shows our IT industry has navigated multiple disruptions and emerged stronger each time.
AI is ultimately a tool, and since Indian IT largely focuses on enterprise needs, we are well-positioned to adapt and lead. The industry has already evolved from cost arbitrage to value creation, from manpower-led models to digital, and now toward AI- and IP-led revenue streams.
Companies like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro still plan to hire between 10,000 and 40,000 graduates this year. Demand is shifting, not vanishing. The real change is in skills. There is no substitute for strong computing fundamentals; engineers must understand core programming before relying on AI tools.
For India, the imperative is clear: move up the value chain and build deep, IP-led capabilities.
