On 8 May 2026, ICRISAT, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pradesh (@upagriculture), and Banaras Hindu University (@bhupro), inaugurated a traditional rainwater harvesting structure locally known as “Haveli” at Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, under the project “Regenerative Climate Resilient Landscape for Drought Proofing Agriculture.”

The initiative aims to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture through rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and sustainable farming practices, improving water security, farm productivity, and farmers’ incomes in drought-prone areas.

During the event, the ICRISAT team showcased ongoing rainwater harvesting interventions and interacted with farmers on water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and improving market access through Farmer Producer Organizations.
