भाजपच्या राजवटीत महानगरपालिकेच्या शाळा खासगीकरणाच्या दिशेने नेण्याचा (अर्थखातेच काही बिल्डरांच्या हाती देण्याचा) प्रस्ताव हा अत्यंत चिंताजनक आणि दुर्दैवी आहे.

गेल्या दोन दशकांत आपण बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या (BMC) शाळांचा दर्जा उंचावण्यासाठी सातत्याने प्रयत्न केले.
इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर सुधारले, डिजिटल शिक्षणाची सोय केली, अभ्यासक्रमाबरोबरच शिक्षणेतर उपक्रम जसे जेंडर इक्वॅलिटी, ऍस्ट्रॉनॉमी क्लब, निसर्ग क्लबचा देखील समावेश केला.

बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या शाळा जगातील एकमेव महानगरपालिका शिक्षण व्यवस्था म्हणून ओळखल्या गेल्या, जिथे विद्यार्थ्यांना SSC, CBSE, IB, IGCSE आणि ICSE अशा विविध बोर्डांमधून मोफत शिक्षणाची सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देण्यात आली.

आणि आता मुंबई महानगरपालिका चालवणारी भाजप शाळांचे खासगीकरण करू पाहत आहे.

खरे तर ज्या मुंबई महानगरपालिकांच्या शाळांवर खाजगी संस्थांनी ताबा मिळवला आहे किंवा ज्या शाळांच्या जागा बिल्डर्सनी @mybmc ला परत दिलेल्या नाहीत, त्या परत ताब्यात घेऊन मुंबई महानगर पालिकेने विद्यार्थ्यांना मोफत, दर्जेदार शिक्षण द्यायला हवं!
