CNN fact checker Daniel Dale hasn’t been on the air since March 13. That’s after averaging 12 or 13 appearances a month for several years.

But apparently, there’s absolutely no reason for this.

He’s still doing fact checks. He’s done 16 in the past six or seven weeks. But nothing on the air.

He did one on Friday about the 28 lies Trump told last week. But that one didn’t make it on the air.

Having to explain how government programs work to a White House Senior Advisor is quite pathetic, but here we go:

First, it did go down, as you can see on the graph. That decrease was from the people who lost their jobs during Trump's mishandling of the pandemic getting back on their feet as Biden added jobs every month of his presidency, a historic first. Trump is losing US jobs again: 140,000 blue-collar jobs were lost last year, and manufacturing is in decline.

If you want fewer people receiving federal assistance, create jobs and ensure they pay livable wages.

As to why it didn't go back down to previous levels:

The benefits for SNAP are evaluated every few years, as required by law, and any needed adjustments are made. That process happened in 2021, and the investigation found that the benefits were woefully inadequate to feed people, so they were raised to proper levels.

You say we can't continue "Biden-era spending", but you control the entire federal government and spent more than in 2024, and Trump added $2.2 trillion to the debt last year.

The Defense budget, already the largest in the world, was increased by $150 billion this year, more than the entire cost of SNAP, to $1 trillion. It is larger than the next 9 highest-spending nations combined.

Strange that you complain about the program giving people an average of $6 per day to feed themselves, but not the bloated, wasteful military spending where contractors overcharge the government by as much as 177,000%, and yes, that is a real thing that happened.

Trump has requested that the defense budget be increased by another $500 billion in 2027. But "Biden-era spending" was the problem despite the debt-to-GDP ratio decreasing during his presidency.

Next time, remember that it is better to say nothing than to admit you are such a fool.

This argument sounds scientific. It isn’t.

Placebo trials were done.
The mRNA COVID vaccines were tested in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials with saline placebo arms. Tens of thousands of participants. Safety follow-up built in. That is foundational science, not its absence.
You cannot ethically run “years-long placebo” trials once the benefit is clear.
When interim analyses showed significant reductions in severe disease and death, continuing to withhold an effective vaccine would have been unethical. That’s not a loophole—it’s standard clinical research ethics.

Long-term safety isn’t guessed. It’s observed.
Autoimmune and neurologic outcomes are detected through:
Phase 3 follow-up

Phase 4 post-authorization surveillance
Multiple national registries across hundreds of millions of people
This is far more powerful than a small, prolonged placebo trial.

Anecdotes are not signals.
Claims of “injuries people are now reporting” are not evidence unless they exceed background rates and replicate across datasets. Most do not.

Appeal to authority is not data.
Saying “credentialed doctors are raising concerns” proves nothing. Science doesn’t advance by résumés, podcasts, or bravado—it advances by replicable data. If the data were there, it would already be published, analyzed, and incorporated.

Vaccines are not declared ‘safe’ by confidence—they’re declared safe by convergence of evidence.
Trials + pharmacovigilance + epidemiology + international replication. That standard hasn’t changed. The rhetoric has.
Bottom line:
This isn’t a failure of science.
It’s a failure to understand how science works—followed by an attempt to replace data with confidence.

Confidence is not evidence.
And science doesn’t yield to slogans.
